Here are the movie reviews for Race 2:

Review By: Sneha May Francis Site: Emirates 24by7

On many levels, a movie that’s all fluff and no stuff can be quite exhausting. And, ‘Race2’ is just that. It’s just a pompous wannabe-thriller that is devoid of any logic. It’s a race, we are told, on numerous occasions, by the two leading heroes and their two gorgeous sidekicks, almost trying to justify why they’ve taken two-hours-and-thirty-minutes of our lives. Yet, there’s never a real sense of what they are racing for. Time, money, babes, or cars? While its predecessor, the original ‘Race’, had shown some promise and glimpse of a good plot, ‘Race2’ steers away from any such attempts, and instead focuses on good looks and charm. On the whole, this is just a lazy sequel of a famed potboiler that can be watched at home… on a (borrowed) DVD.

Ratings:3/5 Review By: Nabanita Roy Site: OneIndia

Race 2, bears all those familiar trademarks of a heady cocktail of betrayal, high-octane action, feisty women combined with twists that will take audiences on adventure-filled rollercoaster ride. Like Race, even the sequel never reveals all its cards at once. The layers come off one by one, and each time you think you've got it all figured out, another shocker hits you out of the blue.On the whole, the makers of Race 2 have made sure to keep the audience entertained so far. We hope to check out more of action, deep secrets, mind-boggling twists further. We'll be back with the final review soon......

Rating:2.5/5 Review by: Abhishek Gupta Site: India TV

Wanna get entertained? Once again, don’t get into logics and statistics as we have been doing for some recent past action masala flicks.
There is a slick treatment of high adrenaline action scenes that rate up to be one of the best in Bollywood.
Abbas Mustan had shown some promise and glimpse of a good plot in ‘Race’, but ‘Race 2’ is just a lazy sequel of a famed potboiler and it seems they want to cash in on the success of the first instalment.‘Race2’ steers away from any such attempts, and instead focuses on good looks and charm mostly.
Put down with a bad script, I’ll go with 2.5 stars for this action drama which has nothing new to offer except a cast of half a dozen of glamorous stars.

Rating: 1.5/5 Review by: Saibal Chatterjee Site: NDTV

On the face of it, Race 2 is a glitzy, action-packed entertainer. Scratch the surface – in fact, that is all there is to the film – and what you are left with is superficial style bereft of logic and substance.
Race 2 is slickly packaged around dramatic twists and turns that fly at you thicker and faster than you care to count.
Is Race 2 on your mind? Get rid of it pronto. This is a wreck of a movie strictly for action junkies who might be looking for a feverish two-and-a-half-hour ride that is far more giddy than heady.

Rating: 2.5/5 Review by: Taran Adarsh Site: BollywoodHungama

Let me state at the very outset that RACE 2 doesn't entirely meet the monstrous expectations. Abbas-Mustan, coupled with screenwriter Shiraz Ahmed, have put together a motion picture that's stylish and engaging, with an international look and feel.
On the whole, RACE 2 has a rocking first half, glam and glitz, great looking men and women, spectacular locales, extravagant making, adrenaline pumping action and of course, a solid brand that's gonna make moviegoers flock the cineplexes initially, but the film lacks the sustaining power thanks to its uneven second half. The writing isn't watertight, the film lacks a hit score, the climax is far from effective and overall, RACE 2 pales in comparison to RACE.

Rating: 3.5/5 Review by: Prasanna D Zore Site: Rediff

Tightly done action sequences, lots of glamour and one liners that cater to the classes and the masses is what makes Race 2 worth a watch. Thankfully, after a long time the director duo of Abbas-Mustan have got a winner in their hands with this sequel as they handle this suspense-thriller with the panache that reminds audiences of Baazigar and Khiladi.
While the ensemble cast has done a super job of making a gripping thriller -- would call it a thriller rather than a suspense-thriller because the suspense is very predictable -- after a long time in Bollywood, the climax and music are the two sore points of the movie.
One must then watch Race 2 for Saif, who with his polished dialogue deliveries and smart one-liners, Abraham, who has played a scheming businessman with aplomb and of course for all the three ravishing ladies who also know how to act.

Rating: 2.5/5 Review by: Ananya Bhattacharya Site: Zee News

‘Race 2’ has every ingredient of an Abbas Mustan flick. It’s got oodles of glamour, scorching style, sleek Bond-ish heroes, gorgeous ladies, characters with more than fifty shades of grey, some enjoyable background music, talks of yachts, and oh boy - some cars, and overshadowing every other thing – money!
In all, ‘Race 2’ is a grand display of money. The adrenaline-pumping action is the plus point of the film, but too much of that does no good to it. Two and a half stars from me for this Friday’s ‘expensive’ release.

Rating: 1.5/5 Review by: Shubhra Gupta Site: Indian Express

There are often good reasons why retreads do not reach the same level as the original. In 2008, 'Race' gave us bad guys and very bad girls who used bronzers and booze as lethal weapons, and Abbas Mustan managed to make of that mix a slick thriller. Five years later, we have a sequel, and it's all so been there-seen that-so what, that 'Race 2' just passes in front of our eyes without registering.
'Race 2' looks exactly like 'Race'. Which may have been intentional because plush locations and pretty playthings and buff men are very much Abbas Mustan trademarks. But all it does is cause a dismally same-same feeling.

Rating: 1.5/5 Review by: Roshni Devi Site: Koimoi

The only change in an Abbas-Mustan film ever is the characters. At this point, all the twists are predictable and you know that the hero will stand tall with his cape flying in the end. The men and women look beautiful and no one bothers to act. The direction is stylish with everything shiny: the actors, cars, casinos, furniture… If you still love Abbas-Mustan for the fast cars, sexy women, hot men, and the insane amounts of money that just keeps flying around, you’ll be happy with this fare as well.
Watch Race 2 only if you want to sit through two-and-a-half hours of no-brainer twists, compensated only by the booty show on screen.

Rating: 3/5 Review by: Rubina A Khan Site: FirstPost

he Abbas-Mustan directed Race 2 delivers what it promises — good looking ensemble cast, exotic locations, cars, bomb squads, revenge, lust and love, a couple of good music tracks and, most importantly, a plot which unravels at a thrilling pace. Race 2 is that kind of a film where one can’t elaborate on the story at all, given it’s turns and twists are what keep the race on.
At some point in the film, Deepika says “I can recognize that money making expression anywhere” and to that I’d say, Abbas Mustan have a big money maker on their hands with Race 2.

one thing more i forgot to say and which i felt so badly while watching the film. deepika has started looking above her age now.

The Quidnunc's picture

finally i watched race 2 and OMG why did i commit this mistake. it is such an insult to it predecessor. amazing locations and beautiful deepika though. but as someone said it already. she is very bad at her dialogue delivery in english and probably thats why she lost the english film that she was going after during the shooting of race 2. anyway, all is well that has now ended somehow well. and yeh one thing more deepika was completely expressionless and jacky was trying toooooo hard with her expressions.

When there is a hit formula and u basically try and repeat it after 4 years with different people there is no saying it will work!

For once they've literally tried to make it obvious to us that they want us to look at deepila as bypass and jacki as Katrina! Well not happening! Kat and bypass suites their roles perfectly!

Deepikas attempts to speak English are the worst in the world!i mean when u have something so glanced up and got and then it opens it's mouth and sounds like such a freshy it is so off putting.

And jacki seriously needs to calm down with being a sex icon! She tries too hard and u just can't like her.

Over all I think they were just trying to hard to make it like eve one. But there's only one race only one bipod a and definitely only one Katrina!

........................................
well said, i'm a deepika fan but she is bad in this movie, and all cast too. anyway it's a really bad movie!

the movie is okay, Anil Kapoor annoying and twists predictable. Liked the eye candy it provided in form of locations, cars and hottt ppl. no buddha (except Anil) in this movie.

I just watched Race 2 and i loved it, and i would go and watch it again. At first when i read the reviews i was hesitant but i am so glad i went ahead and watched it. It was fast, energetic and had puzzling moments and John Abrahim could have not been more perfect for his role as well as Saif and Deepika was so freaking hot. I LOVED IT and by the looks of the ending i think Race 3 might happen and i hope so i would love to watch another race movie.

Guys it's better watch Akash Vani. After headache I had watching Race 2 I enjoyed Akash Vani and even forgot about headache... Race 2 is all about glam and no story. Saif is ok, John is good but not his best, Deepika looks gorgeous but expressionless, Jacqueline can't act. Oh God someone send her to Sri Lanka. We needn't one more Katrina in bollywood. Amisha was annoying. Akash Vani is 100 times better than Race 2. It's a beautiful love story with young and talented actors! Tomorrow I'm going to watch it again.

so i should spare myself of the disappointment.

After watching Race 2, I was SHOCKED!!! Shocked in a bad way! The story was horrible, the twists were so predictable in the first half, and the twists in the second half was irritating!!! Deepika, Jaqueline and Ameesha rarely had screen time!!! I was a huge fan of Race, but not Race 2. Race was such a fabulous film! One did wish that Bipasha Basu and Akshay Khanna were in Race 2! NONE of the girls in Race had the screen presence that Bipasha has or had in Race! Bipasha was missed! Deepika and Jaqueline were horrendous and BAD! Ameesha was the most entertaining of the actresses, even though she had the smallest of all roles!

Anonymous's picture

I watched it and wasn't disappointing! wasn't much different from race. saif, deepika and jaqueline commendable in their roles. saif and deepika have particularly understood their role well!

music was al et down compared to race. Be intehaan was the only good song.

to all those who can't understand english, i never said i liked race 2 or dabangg2, all i was saying was that barfi was OVERRATED! if it was such an amazing story it would of gone to the oscars, they had to pull out of the race after they realized oh yea we have been caught. i am not joining any bandwagons, but if you lift even a few scenes from somewhere else, you clearly aren't an original thinker. all those haters go learn to read and UNDERSTAND english

oh no so many negative reviews:(

Made on a budget enough to educate half of Maharashtra’s child population, Race 2 is the kind of film you wish for your worst enemy to watch on a Saturday night at the most expensive multiplex ticket available. Unlike the first part of the franchise, though, it’s not even one of those guilty pleasure films that act as accompaniment on a drunken night with friends. Even as a terribly bad film, Race 2 is a disappointment.

Race 2 is not as entertaining as it should’ve been. Its biggest minus point is that it does not thrill and shock and it is too lengthy. Given its high cost (approximately Rs. 90 crore plus), the film is poised to be a losing fare.

Interesting review @Akiv Malhotra.

Akiv Malhotra's picture

Race 2 is a big disappointment by the director-duo Abbas-Mustan, following a rather huge expectation on the 2nd installment of Race.

There is nothing new in this film. The story is far weaker than Race (2008), or to be frank, there is actually no story to be told. Abbas-Mustan have applied the same formula of story-telling and execution in Players before, which turned out to be one of the biggest duds of their career. The first half is totally a waste of time, and the second half is ineffective. Though the plot grows at a fast pace, it's too hard to swallow too many twists and turns that appeared every 15 minutes (famously known as Abbas-Mustan's style of directing).

The songs were cut short and placed in an unnecessary way. Without an item song line Zara Zara Touch Me in Race (2008), there is lack of the 'oomphh' factor in the songs sequence. Worst, I can't believe they can still manage to sing and dance to Allah Duhai Hai at the most crucial moment in the film. Most audience took the songs sequence as an excuse for them to leave the hall or to go to the toilet.

Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham play the central role in this film. Saif seems lost and tired throughout the film. John is good but could have been better, especially with his expressions. Anil Kapoor has done justice on his limited role.

The ladies act as a mere eye-candy. Their roles are loose and are given a very limited scope. All of them are expressionless. I should say that Bipasha's and Katrina's role in Race (2008) were way better. Deepika stands out with her performance, though not as good as her performance in Cocktail. Jacqueline Fernandez is terrible. Ameesha Patel is even more shocking! Race 2 has put an end to her acting career. After several years, she seems to forget how to act.

Overall, Race 2 is not up to the mark and falls flat in comparison to the super successful Race (2008).

My rating: 1.5 stars

i am so sick of people mentioning BARFI! the whole movies was a copy, atleast if it was an honest made movie, i wouldn't mind, but it tries to be so much more and at the end it just turns out to be unoriginal. movies like dabangg, housefull, bol bachchan, bad as they may be, they atleast try not to act all superior, they know where the movies stand when it comes to being authentic.
-----------------------------
ARE YOU EVEN SERIOUS? Their were a FEW scenes that were a 'copy' (as you'd want to call it) - fair enough. But calling the whole movie a COPY is just exceptionally delusional of you. The STORY, the SCREENPLAY and most importantly the CHARACTERS were all original. Maybe you're just trying to act cool by joining the bandwagon of calling Barfi a copy. A FEW SCENES not the ENTIRE MOVIE, you deluded freak. Shows how low your thinking is if you compare a film like Barfi! with trashy films like Housefull and Dabangg.

Anonymous's picture

deepika does not have any luck...she may be having good projects but they all fail miserably....even cocktail was just a hit not a blockbuster....that's where katty excels....me not a kat fan...so pls....

better watch Akash vani.. something more truthful and exciting there!!

==========================

Actually have you ever seen a movie about a autistic girl falling in love with a deaf/mute guy in a love triangle with a girl w/any disorders? I don't think so. BARFI WAS A ORIGINAL MOVIE. It had comic scenes inspired from Chaplen and Anurag said this during the promos of Barfi and said that he was a huge fan of Charlie and wanted to honor him.

Please don't compare the likes of Barfi with pointless movies like Dabangg, Housefull, and Bol Bachan which don't have any substance.
