Will Cocktail make it to the Rs 100 crore club?
The new term to define the performance of Bollywood films in the Box office is - "the 100 crore club". These are films that make a business of over a 100 crore rupees. Last week's release 'Cocktail' might be the next to enter this club. As per Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh, 'Cocktail' collected approximately Rs 36 crore in its opening weekend. Evidently, 'Cocktail' is scoring well in the international market too. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Cocktail Australia: Fri A$ 45,811, Sat A$ 71,203. Total: A$ 117,014... New Zealand: Fri NZ$ 12,341, Sat NZ$ 13,168. Total: NZ$ 25,509. #Cocktail - USA: Fri $ 220,000." 100 crore or not, 'Cocktail' is definitely a hit. Saif and Deepika did it again, and Diana Penty seems to have arrived in Bollywood.

I don't think so, but I am very happy for Deepika that it did so well. Saif was super funny (though slightly annoying in his girl-chasing) and Deepika looked so confidant, comfortable and in her elements! She did well. I'd rate her performance very close to the best so far, OSO being close, but she was still raw there. Diana Penty is so cute and pretty!

No, it won't and it doesn't need to. Cocktail was always meant for a multiplex audience. Before the release, trade analysts were predicting 25-27 crore weekend and calling it 'good enough' for a niche movie like this. But, it exceeded all expectations. It has the 9th best all time opening and is the first movie in the list that is not masala(aka all about the heroes) movie. So it did exceptional for its genre. Not all movies are made to touch 100 crore. Simple-mindedness like this would only restrict the possibilities of Hindi Cinema.
Deepika was THE movie, for me. And a lot of critics too, it seems. She is the only thing that worked for the movie. Otherwise, the movie is slow, regressive and cliched.

WOOOHOOOO Saif has it all. he deserves all the good things.
When znmd was released and i saw that movie,i fell in love with that but was not sure about its success.but it surpassed my all expectations and managed to collect 90 cr.Good movies always become hit.But with cocktail,it's not going to happen because movie was not upto the mark.

honestly, although deepika's acting was good, her accent was soooo annoying!

No it wont make it to the 100 crore club its not a bodyguard movie with two very in demand actor Salman and Kareena
it had a 36 Cr. weekend... so going by that... this one's lifetime collection would be somewhere around 70 Cr... if it goes strong ... but I see no comp.. around so may be who know... sad that second half is horrible

i loved this movie...for once it seemed to portray partially how complicated romance in friendships are...deepika was a revelation..though she did let it slip in a few scenes..diana was the best debut ive seen in a long time...and saif..i have no words for..i dont know if it was his character or portrayal or just him...he was a charming villian or a hero with no saving graces.
honestly though this is deepikas movie all the way through. she is what made it a hit. i only watched it for her.
I thought the main actress in this movie was Diana she had the role with substance, post the arrival of Dimpal, Deepika was almost sidelined. Story revolved around Diana imo

Umm there is a possibility since MORE people watch movies now a days than they did back in the early 2000s so there is a chance that people will go out and see this. I liked the movie. It wasn't EXTRAORDINARY but it was a fun time pass. Deepika's acting did improve during the emotional scenes and Meera seems like a natural actress but there is room for improvement and Saif is just fun and chill Saifu. The movie had too much melodrama for me to love it considering its supposed to be a rom com
NO!!! what was good about the movie except the songs????? Deepika was ok....just being what she is in real life I guess...so 'acting' must've come naturally to her!!

100 crore club the first week collections were not so big as the other 100 crore members films had

Hindi movies are not good at all..All rip-offs of hollywood...wonder how people like this film...Bad taste i must say.

nope ! isnt a film that appeals the masses.. Youngsters metros def... but it might get a good overseas collections..but not 100 crore.
Ofcourse its a hit movie..but joining 100cr club?? I seriously doubt..and only good thing abt this movie is Deepika.. COCKTAIL will be remained as Deepika's movie..
