I'm not saying the lifestyle is for everyone but its permitted in their religion and they can choose to life their life anyway they want. If you are from South East Asia then you're already familiar with the concept and if you're not then the lifestyle is also prevalent in Mormonism, aside from being present in theory and practice in several other organized religions. It is a legal practice in India for Muslims.
Another thing, its okay and being open minded of other culture if you're watching Big Love but not if its about a real life family?
I suggest you analyze aspects of you're lifestyle which might seem questionable to people of other cultures before you jump on the judgement bandwagon. Oh and get over yourself.
