I agree with lady_in_pink, Alia looks cute for the first time. She looks as if she has some "Jaan" in her..otherwise in movie trailers and posters she comes across as a girl with forced expressions.

Yup, varun and Alia are a couple in real life. As per old articles, both of them started dating each other even before they started shooting for the movie, i.e. during the time they had their workshops. I think I even read an article that said KJo didn't want their personal life to overshadow the film's promotion and even the marketing team of film was told not to use their personal life for publicity of the film.
During the music release of the movie(vid was put up on PV) KJo even jokingly said that Alia was like everyone's daughter on set except Varun's. He said, "inki (Varun's) beti door door tak nahin hai".

Varun will become a star..this guy dances so well, has good screen presence... Alia i am not confident....Sidharth reminds me of shashi kapoor sometimes....i mean he is also sweet.....i think this movie will do well...songs are also good...above all its production of KJO and SRK...Karan is marketing guru...

I seriously doubt either Alia or Varun are in/going to be in a committed relationship right now, as someone eluded to below. This never happens with actors when they are starting off...they just have flings...of course some don't commit and continue their flings even when they are established but that's a different story!
so BASICALLY they are targeting YOUTH with this movie which will make this movie a HIT
