In these recent years we have all seen the influx of foreigners in Bollywood. The most famous of all would have be Katrina Kaif. She rose from a British-Indian model who couldn't speak hindi, to one of the most successful actors in contemporary Bollywood. Then there is Amy Jackson, the British model who made her Hindi debut in Ek Deewana Tha opposite Prateik Babbar. Next in line is Lisa Haydon, a half Australian and Indian model who made her debut in the movie Aisha.
Nathalia Kaur made her hindi debut in a item number in the movie 'Department'. While there are many more, these are the ones I can remember right now. What do you think about this new trend and do you believe it will hurt the 'Indian' feel of Bollywood?

Indian cinema is no longer the same .. it produces BULLSHIT .. I miss Bolly of the 90s and earlier .. when movies were MEANINGFUL! Far too commercial these days .. so so sad
Sometimes i dont understand why everyone is so hard on Katrina? She may have had help from Salman khan in the begining but apart from that, she has achieved everything else after that on her own merit. Salman did not go out and buy a zillion tickets of her hit movies did he? It's not wrong to say she has made history in becoming one of the most successful and bankable actressess in Bollywood! And whether she acts or not or is a wooden block or item girl, she has become what she is by her own efforts and hard work whether we want to believe that or not!
People say what is Katrina doing in TMK when it is an Akshay movie! what roles did Kareena have in RA One and Bodyguard when the movie was about RA one and the bodyguard? What role did Sonakshi have in Dabang? Wasn't Chikni Chameli an item song? So shouldnt Kareena, Vidya, Chitrangada Singh, Aishwarya, Deepika be asking why their roles are not substantial enough when they were doing their item songs? I think any competition is healthy and if they have drive and the determination to lock horns with our local indian girls in our indian movies, more power to them!
i dont consider katrina,lisa haydon or natalia kaur outsiders (no idea who she was until today) because they have an indian origin ! unlike amy jackson who has nothing to do with india i consider her an example of an outsider(foreign).
i prefer to see actresses in bollywood who are indian or have an indian origin ! i find it weird to see a non indan acting as a ''desi girl'' it kinda ruins the movie !
i have nothing against amy jackson this was just a personal opinion!
Today I watched Ek Diwana tha. Amy doesn't looks foreign. She is really beautiful and decent in acting much much better than katrina from Boom.
~~~
yeah she dyed her hair black and wore dark contacts !
Lisa Haydon is half Indian and sh has lived in Chennai too.So she s no outsider.
Natalia Kaur'd dad is Indian
Katrina 's indianness ???
Amy is an Outsider
Nargis Fahri is an outsider
work hard or suck it up to big shots.
I am an Indian .I would nt like any half indian or a foreigner brought up in India (like Kalki or Luke Kenny)
to be addressed or considered outsider.
Because if i were to have a child with an outsider ,my child would be counted with a britisher or a pakistani ,what logic is that??
I wish ppl like Katrina or amy were good actors then it would have been good.But if suck it up to some big shots and make ur way to top slot.It is shameful.It shows our Indian men have some silly fetish that they need to address and are not using thier brain and letting foreign women take advantage of thier position...sigh
If these ppl were good actors then it would have been fine...As such Bollywood is abt bad acting ,to top it they are importing it :S
As long as sonakshi and vidya r thr indianness can never b lost
one word
RACIST
These girls are gorgeous, but honestly speaking in the western world u will see a lot of people looking like them, so they are not rare in that case, only rare in our country. I would have not problem with them, if they could act, but they doesn't know how to act at all mostly, where thr r loads of girls in television or in India, who needs a break with their amazing acting. So, it seems unfair in my pov!
& as said by The Weird, girls are shown as "eye candies" in India's films, for ex - Tees Maar Khan, God knws what was Katrina doing thr, when the movie is about Akshay? So, the girl should play a slight bit of IMPORTANT role! They are just eye candies, dancing to songs like "chikni chameli." Probably this is why directors picks up these good looking hotties for their masala movies.
Though, I have to say, these days Vidya Balan, PC & Kareena have changed it with Dirty Pic, Kaahani, Fashion or Heroine :) Or even thr were few movies back then where Sridevi or Hema Malini played LEAD roles, rather than the eye candy!
I would have no problem if the girls could act, or have amazing diction, or dance or have some measure of talent but so far no one has been convincing enough.
And it's a bit iffy to see the whitewashing of the ideal Indian beauty since actresses represent a hyper fantasy to Indian men. The message Indian women/men are getting is that Indian women are not good looking enough so we're getting substitutes. 0_o If that isn't racist I don't know what is.
The lack of guys being imported with the same frequency is also kind of sexist. That's like saying women don't need eye candy which is super false.
Bollywood is not the same anymore foreingerns playing indians. .. only because they are white.. where all are the indians girls..
The other chick with katrina looks like humaima malik,the pakistani actresses.
If these foreign chicks could act, I doubt anyone would have any issues. There is a reason Kalki is not on this list.
The fact that these generic looking white girls with no talent, no knowledge of our cinema and most importantly, no knowledge of our language get a chance reflects the racism of our industry/ the colonial hangover amongst our people, really. So many talented, beautiful Indian girls struggle their asses off to get a chance in the industry, but these girls are preferred because of the color of their skin.
And I've said it before, but Bollywood is not the same as Hollywood. USA is potboiler of many different cultures. As such, there are roles meant for brown people there. You will never see a movie where an Indian is cast and they 'lol just presume that this brown person is actually white.' Even typing that out makes me feel dumb. But that is what Bollywood does. Katrina in Raajneeti and in a few of her other movies is supposed to be completely Indian and the movie makers just say 'lol just presume that this white chick is brown, why can't you.' THAT is racism.
Well as long as they have some resemblance to an indian look and aren't bad with hindi. I guess this is just the sign of the times with nationalities mingling. The makers are accepting them and if it works with their movie, then why not. And it's giving an opportunity to the girls who are interested. But I definitely want to see the indianness of the movie remain largely in looks, language, intonation. I can always watch foereign movies but I hope what makes an indian movie indian doesn't change. Very interesting and debatable topic.
amy is too hot nd beautiful to handle.katrina is nthng in comparison to her
None of these are really that successful except for Kat. And after a decade in the industry she STILL can't speak Hindi.
What happened to Jennifer Lopez's cousin? I thought she was supposed to debut in Bollywood.
I agree with moimeme, it is all cause of Salman Khan's fascination with non-Indian women! If anyone is to blame, it is him!
Oh Really so Amy Jackson came w/Salman oh wait., no she didn't, she started w/Telgu movies and came down here w/ no connection w/salman
Katrina is not an outsider any more..she is a super star...
You people should be ashamed of yourself .at the end of the day we all humans.
And that what is matter.
Those things that called nationality, colors, etc. are just labels. Like the labels of clothes and so.
Indians are everywhere. In Hollywood, British movies.etc . you rarely heard racism issues and people it get Punished if they did it
Plz stop that Katrina just got lucky and people loved her and that has nothing to do with her nationality.
Grow up, you spouse to be the new generation that the word racism is remove from your dictionary
Salman Khan has got some good connection internationally :P
more like rise of plastic fake talent who are ready ti strippp
umm sure amy had her hindi debut but since it was a debacle, she hasn't risen much. katrina kaif is probably the only successful "outsider" who can actually pull in a crowd to come watch her movies.
