Anurag Basu: Ranbir Does Not Know How Brilliant He Is
Accolades continue to pour in for Ranbir's performance in Barfi! with the latest compliment coming from the movie's director Anurag Basu. Saying that he did not believe that a 'perfect movie' existed and that he was more comfortable with criticism as compared to praise, Anurag opined that Ranbir was the finest actor of his generation. Speaking to Mid-Day , Anurag said "What intrigues me about him is that he doesn't even know how brilliant he is. In a way, it's working for him because this self-doubt makes him push himself harder." He spoke about his role models, influence of Charlie Chaplin and the difficulties in making a movie like Barfi! with its numerous characters and limited dialogues. He opined that contemporary Hindi cinema was on the right track and said this might well be called the golden era of Hindi cinema twenty years past.

this may seem like a little too much but...ranbir is going to become a living legend. he is talented, goodlooking, focused/dedicated/hardworking, from the most powerful film families in bollywood, good dancer and a man. this combination is the perfect formula for a legend in the making.

yeah Pizza Pasta. I also think that he will be the next King of Hindi cinema. And I have no doubt that he is a really talented actor. I just like Irfan Khan and Manoh Bajpai very much. I like them as much as Ranbir but as you said it's really sad that these actors are very underrated because of their no-hero look! I think the day when these actors along with Ranbir would be in the top that will be bollywood's golden days!
Thanks @Gohar:-) Let me just clarify that I've no shred of doubt regarding Ranbir's talent,he's now beyond competition & truly the next King Of Hindi Cinema.But I just feel really sad when some world class actors like Irrfan Khan get ignored due to their unconventional looks or some other reason. But this doesn't in any way mean that I'm belittling Ranbir.So for me both Ranbir and Irrfan have given the best performances of the year.
I agree with you PizzaPasta. Ranbir is a fantastic actor but there are also brilliant actors like Manoj Bajpai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and ofcaurse Irfan Khan!

I agree with you Mr.Basu. He's not just the best of his generation but one of the finest of ALL TIME simply because in 5years he's played a larger variety of characters than the others have in their entire lives,just imagine what he's gonna do when he reaches the Khan's age?WOW!Just hope he never stops making films like Barfi & Rockstar♥ But my only grumption is that while Ranbir is definitely uber talented,he's not the best at present times.There are others like Irrfan Khan,Nawazuddin Siddiqui,Manoj Bajpai who remain underrated despite their immense talent. Sad cause I felt that in no ways was Nawaz in GOW & Irrfan in PST anything less than Ranbir.
