Deepika chosen for Ram Leela!
After an ocean of speculations,It is finally confirmed that Deepika Padukone has been confirmed for Ram Leela. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Indian take on Romeo and Juliet, 'Ram Leela' had been put on hold due to vacant leading actress after Kareena Kapoor walked out. It was also reported that Priyanka Chopra was approached. An insider according to TOI revealed that since the female lead needed to be fair, Kat was a strong contender. But Dippy, however, clinched the deal. A source close to the project revealed, "Bhansali wanted an A list heroine to play Leela. He approached Katrina but she did not have dates. Deepika was the only one with available dates for the project. Bhansali was only too happy to have her." What are your thoughts? Will Deepika make a good desi Juliet ?

I agree SLB is obsessed with Aish... he can't seem to think beyond her at all... and I also think its coz of her beauty and nothing else! So, he is not gonna be happy with any other choices..Kareena, PC, Anushka or Deepika... Also, if the role is written in such a way that it was offered from Kareena, Katrina, PC to Deepika..looks like its not that great a role after all... anybody can fit into the role I guess! Nothing special! Maybe he was just banking on Kareena and Ranveer to bring that magic in their performances .. but I dont think its a well-etched role.

Ash has always been the first choice for most SLB films.But don't know why SLB keeps throwing Kareena out of his films-he rejected her for Devdas after a screen test due to her acting skills and now Ram leela reportedly because of her marriage.Hmmm!

If he rejected her for her acting skills in Devdas, why did he cast her in Ram Leela in the first place? Maybe , you know,MAYBE , if you look at things objectively.. she was young and raw ..and aish was hot property then.. so maybe that's why! Use your brains a little bit ... it helps ..trust me!

@ oxygen now I'm thinking what would have happened to the movie (HDDCS) which has gained CLAsSIC CULT STATUS IF kareena was roped in!! and think about the CLASSIC EPIC SONG "NIMBOODA NIMBOODA" without ASH!!! that's freaking!! thank god ASH did the movie!! SALMAN AND ASH HAD THE IMPECCABLE CHEMISTRY WHICH NO ONE SHARED ON /OFF SCREEn BEFORE OR AFTER that movie!!! deepika is the best choice
now I'm sure this movie is gonna be a hit!! I was really worried how KAREENA can play opposite RANVEER who looks like her younger sibling!! deepika is the BEST CHOICE!! SHE HAS THAT TRADITIONAL STUNNING INDIAN FACE after Ash!!

I think Diana Penty, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika...three of these are perfect! They look more "Classical"
Anushka Sharma & Kareena Kapoor does not go well with the character, though both of them are fair & pretty.
Deepika's is a fair choice..No match the SLB's all time favoritem and his only muse-Aishwarya.But again no one can match Ash's acting-beauty-dancing altogether.But still she's beautiful!Don't know still if can say anything much about her acting but she's much better than Katrina.I liked her in LAK.Would love to see how she performs in classical form of dancing.
Lets see,when SLB announces things officially.

btw where did she prove that she can act , i think she is the worst actress at present. all she can do is make rich boyfriends and manipulate them to stay in industry. SLB should find a new girl for this role . priyanka , kareena , deepika and katrina aunty all look solder than ranveer singh

I think DP is a good choice; she is certainly better than Katrina in my opinion. She looks Indian, and plus, she can actually speak Hindi :)

SLB's thought is very poor.indian juliet need not to be fair.ppl love to see an indian beauty in that role.kareena was perfect but deepika is also not far behind from her.she has improved a lot as an actor.and of course ranveer-deepika will make a good pair.

@ Voiceswriter, who said KK was the first choice for HDDCS? I read in a SLB interview that he met ARB @ the premiere of Raja Hindustani in 1996 and the moment he met her he said "this is my Nandini!"... I bet KK was at the same premiere, since it was her sister's film and all! ;)
