Deepika Padukone - the luckiest bollywood actress ever?

I thought she was lucky too in the beginning when she started in OSO but than after I saw her Love Aj kaal, I really liked her in that movie. I think she is better than PC and Kat.

madhuri had to work hard to work with srk? what are you on about? none of those actresses needed to work hard to work with srk. srk is the best but madhuri and ash were the best too. kareena gets by on family name.

Deepika is danish-bred?? ...No way, she is from Bangalore, went to school in bangalore, her father, mother are from managalore in karnataka, she speaks kannada, konkani....they are gowd saraswat brahmins mostly found in karnataka.
I have seen her as a school and modelling days in bangalore. She totally has typical Indian convent school accent.

I'd have to agree with you she is quite lucky but lets get her some credit on her modeling career. If she wasn't a model she would never end up in bollywood and i am pretty sure she has worked her butt off for modeling opportunities.

she is pretty. who is stunning is in the eyes of the beholder. some finder her gorgeous and some dont. so maybe bollywood does! and she acted well in love aaj kal, she didnt overact like so many heroines and her crying was perfect. she can dance really well. thats enough. and her dad is prakash padukone. and she was a model 1st. and millions are coming to see her movies. so thats about it. that life!

"not exceptionally pretty"?? i'd say she's one of the most beautiful bollywood actresses.....not sure what u are on about?! also, how can u say she's not talented at all??? considering the fact that she has only done a few movies to date, i think she's done her roles quite well.....and she's a great dancer....so compared to most of the newcomers i'd say she's got a lot of potential.

I also heard from Imtiaz that Deepika was chosen for the role of love aaj kal even BEFORE om Shanti Om!...So if she was discovered by Farah Khan how cud imtiaz possibly have knownn she wanted to to be launched? Certainly they have connections and know faces in bwood that make it easy....How long has it been since ive heard a ordinary girl/guy made it? In times of srk/ aamir/ dharmendra that was possible. I dont think it's all so possible anymore. They are indeed a very secular industry & wanna keep it that way

Bollywood, it seems, is a royal closed door- and only insiders are let in. True.. so how did a small-towner like her make it!! well.. the truth is often more telling:

Deepika, though she does not come from a Bollywood family-- does have a star-padre-- tennis ace of international repute-- and wealthy too (settled in Denmark). Most ppl don't realize she's born and raised in Denmark-- (and yet seems 100% Indian-bred!). Her family may be knowing Bollywood folks-- as Bollywood stars are crazy over sports stars. She does come from a 'good high family' in this sense and is in no way, a 'small-town' girl. Plus, she has height and a very stunning face structure.

Often, when someone 'unknown' becomes a star instantly, we do not see their struggle. i.e Vidaya has been working for years before she got a hit and is a 'newcomer'. Similarly, Deepika may have been trying for roles for quite a while.

Similarly, Frieda was seen as someone who was a slummer who went on to be a star-- but in fact, she is/was wealthy-- family owns Palace of Asia restaurant chains in the Easten U.S.-- she has settled aboard in the U.S. before-- and her elder sis is an Indian TV producer. But then she will be a 'nobody' as the press gave her very little coverage.

I agree but can we look at the "talent" lot that is in bollywood currently?
More than half of them are cousins, sons, daughters of famous actors/actresses, without a impressive face or acting credibility! ...i cant for the life of me find Imran Hot/cute/ or what else ppl refer to him as, still need to work on his dialogue delivery etc .....then there's Ranbir Kapoor and his face as well as personality just makes me wanna yawn and then theres deepika (hype cuz she starred with srk -- and in that list we can include Anushka as well and then theres Asin with Aamir. Sonam - got in cuz of daddys help. watch a interview of her over her passion for films or what made her wanna be an actress-- you'll find nothing ACTING relevant in her desires to be one! Katrina is a known fact wudnt get the directors she got n the actors she got to work with if it wasnt for sallu mia

no wonder da budhas of bwood are still romancing women half their age cuz no scope for women and their acting so we rely on a male actor to make us happy and the only promising one i see is -shahid.
