On the eve of the World Peace Day, the United Nations announced Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as its Goodwill ambassador at its Headquarters in New York this morning. Aishwarya is educated and if she speaks without an accent it would be so good, cause at times Abhishek who speaks eloquently looks a bit uncomfortable when he is with Aishwarya when she starts speaking in public..I love Aishwarya and Abhishek together and just waiting for a family photo with Aaradhya:)

It's called dialect code-switching/style-shifting (yeah, google it, it's a well documented part of linguistics) and a lot of celebrities have been accused of doing it i.e. faking an accent. From Madonna to Gwyneth Paltrow to Gillian Anderson to Renee Zellwegger to Lara Dutta to Katrina Kaif. Even SRK accused Madhuri of adopting an American accent on KWK but she did not, she code-switches her dialect to suit wherever she is.

I just heard lots of big words strung together with no actual meaning and when she went on to explain she just added more words and then said like you said, like she said etc.

no one can deny that she has accomplished a lot without being educated. what she has accomplished is not on the basis of talent or education, it is purely on the basis of looks. and there is NOTHING wrong with that - many people in the world make money off their looks alone. i think why people get annoyed is when rai fans try to act as if in addition to her looks, she is also the smartest out there - that is simply not true. what is the source of her high school results? and even if they were good, high school and college (esp postgrad which many indians accomplish) is leagues and yards different from so-called doing well in high school. it seems as if her fans are clutching at straws to make her seem smart, and only have the optiion of going to her high school track record (which may not even be true, no credible source for her marks have been cited). btw i was an over-achiever in high school and know many others who were the same, but a good college is the great leveler and not everyone could perform at college the way they did in high school.

Sweetie, I have been a fan of Aishwarya's for a very long time and I can tell you that no one I know makes Aish out to be smarter than she is. Even here in the States people take it upon themselves to brag about such things (GPAs, Straight As etc. etc.) but I would never play that card unless I know the facts or that a person has evidently performed exceeding well at something and deserves to be applauded. My statements as seen in the above quote compared her with similar college dropouts as a reference point only in response to the person who point out that Aishwarya is a college drop-out. If you think all Aishwarya's fans over-embellish, I don't know of any & if they exist then trust me I am not one of them. I believe people's track records should speak for themselves no matter who they are and from whatever walk of life they hail from. Most of these celebrities whom we hold in high regard are in fact not as educated as we think but that doesn't stop them from being wealthy and respected in society.

Don't be delusional dear... Ash was the 6 th ranking student in her class 10 boards and she had scored 90% in her HSC(Class 12th).. She studied B. Architecture for 3 years(Architecture is a 5 year course) but had to leave it due to her Victory at MISS WORLD 1994..

Having a masters degree does not matter, your aptitude/intelligence matters. And aptitude is measured by your ability to be good in maths. Many top consulting companies ask puzzles/ aptitude test questions in interviews. Rani/Vidya are arts/home-science majors. Tell me honestly- do you need to goto college to for arts/home-science? How many jobs are out there for someone who did M.A home-science? What is the significance of an arts degree ? You don't need brains to study arts/home science . I would say a person who has got 90% in science stream even in 12th exam and dropped out is much intelligent then someone having masters degree in arts. Why are all Indian parents dying to make their children engineers/scientists /doctors? Why doesn't any parent say to his son - beta tum B .A kar lo history/psychology se?
See the people who get admitted in IIM's .MBA is for business administration but how many BA/MA people manage to get into IIM? 70% of the seats are taken by science stream people/engineers there.Even the IAS exams, is dominated by people from maths/science background/engineers
And Aishwarya's 90% marks thing is true, watch Karan Thapar's interview. He does his research before asking questions. But regarding college degrees, IT IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE THAT GETTING 90% IN 12TH SCIENCE IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT THEN GETTING A MASTERS DEGREE IN ARTS/HOME SCIENCE.
And I do agree that Aish is not very well read. She never got the time for it . There are people Lara Dutta/ Saif Ali Khan who have much more knowledge then her . Nevertheless, she is sensible and does have idea of the world /events/sports/politics/culture/geography unlike other dumb actresses. But Aish is more intelligent then any other actress (Rani/Vidya/Madhuri/Lara) we have ever seen

A college dropout does not mean one is dumb. She was intelligent, good in Maths , science , was class topper throughout(apart from 10th class where she came 8th and cried in front of principal) , and received 90% marks in 12 th exams, and got admission to a well known architecture college before Ms world happened. Id she had continued architecture , she would have been her college topper as well
Tell me which other actress/ model is as intelligent as her, or has got 90% marks in their 12th exams with science stream.? All other actress are bimbos. Tell me how much read is Madhuri/Sreedevi, how much % marks they had in their exams? Kareena , Ranbir are good actors but failed in maths , Ranbir used to be the bottom ranker/poorest in studies. Rani went to college to degree in homescience-> Is that even a degree? Do you need to goto college even if you want to study home-science? Vidya has a Masters degree but that is in arts , which people who are bad at studies are forced to take, you dont have to study in ARTs stream.
No one can be a master of all trades like Aish. Good speaking, good manners, intelligent, good in studies, good daughter, daughter in law and mother apart form the endless professional achivements

She has a very high IQ and is is super smart. The way she handled her life and career makes it obvious.
Aishwarya addressing the UN for the first time in her life, she was nervous but did well. And it's nice she added Indian touch whether it is her dressing or the way she chanted a Sanskrit sholka at the end.
