The Shahid Kapoor - Alia Bhatt movie 'Shaandaar' released today to a decent opening. Apparently, the movie had a good collection of about 35%, which is higher than the other recent holiday opener 'Singh is Bliing'. Trade analysts therefore predict a decent first day figure for this Vikas Bahl movie. However, in mass circuits, the openings of Shaandaar apparently are lesser than Singh is Bliing as Akshay is very popular with the masses.

Experts suggest that Shaandaar will gross in the range of 12.50 crore nett. Apparently this is a good number but ideally, should have been higher since it is a holiday.

The film has done well in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Also, the film is surprisingly doing well in Punjab even though it has tough comeptition from a biggie - Punjabi release Shareek. However, the bad news is that the movie is too big to depend on only these cities for profits. Buzz is that an ongoing big cricket match could have affected the collections of Shaandaar. Well, to cut a long story short, Shaandaar is not doing too bad, but going through the current trends, the movie really needs to pick up in more cities for it to be a success.

The movie is directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. It stars Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, with Pankaj Kapur and Sanjay Kapoor in supporting roles. Well, all the best to the team of Shaandaar!
