Box-Office Day 2: Neerja emerges strong at the ticket window!
Sonam Kapoor finally found the breakthrough film of her career with Neerja. Along with thumbs up from the critics, the audiences are showing much love towards the biopic. The film is based on the martyr Neerja Bhanot, air pursuer on the Pan Am Flight 73, who saved 359 lives in the flight Hijack on 5 Sep, 1986.
Neerja has emerged as a hit with a huge growth on day two as collections at the box-office were INR Rs 7.50crore nett region. There are some centres which have doubled collections from day one; some are even more than double. The Ram Madhvani directorial venture had grossed INR Rs 4.50 crores approximately on the first day.
The growth is phenomenal in the multiplexes of Delhi city and Gurgaon as well as Bangalore. The mass circuits have shown less growth of around 50% and despite this growth, the collections are still low. The two-day business for the film is INR Rs 12 crore nett approx. and will easily cross INR Rs 20 crore nett for the weekend.
The film is a hit but it will be Sunday that will decide whether the film can gain appreciation outside its target audience or remain a city film. The business is low across Gujarat, UP, MP, Bihar, Orissa, Haryana and Rajasthan and if these areas can double on Sunday or near double it would go to a different level.
