Box Office Report: Sonam's Neerja has 2nd Best Opening Weekend of 2016
Lately, the Bollywood releases has proved just one point, that content is indeed a king. If the story is strong then nothing can stop it from performing well at the box office. Sonam Kapoor's Neerja is the latest example of it.
The film opened to rave reviews and is winning hearts too. The positive word of mouth helped the film earn good money at the ticket window with the movie earning INR 9.75 crores on Day 3.
According to trade sites, the three day total stands at INR 21.75 crores, with the film recording the second highest opening weekend in 2016, after Airlift.
The Ram Madhvani directed affair performed well in the metros with other areas growing over Saturday and Sunday. Neerja has score amazingly well even in the overseas with the movie earning $ 575,000 in US/Canada. Going by its business, the film may top the $ 1.5 billion mark, beating the likes of Fitoor and Wazir.
While the trade reports suggest the above number, the Production House numbers are close by. According to the Production House numbers, Neerja has earned INR 22.01 crores in its opening weekend.
