The first half of 2016 has already ended and we cannot resist ourselves from listing down the top grossers of 2016. The first half of the film witnessed some great films with strong content doing well with the audience as well as some absolute commercial entertainers which may not have received positive feedback from the critics, but the audience gave it a thumbs up!

Airlift: Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer won all the hearts and still occupies the top slot. The film earned INR 128 Crores at the box office and won rave reviews from the critics too.
Housefull 3: The third part in the Housefull franchise, the movie went on to become the second highest grosser of 2016 by earning INR 107 Crores. Though the movie was panned by the critics, the audience ROFLed after watching. Starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon in lead, the movie was directed by Sajid-Farhad.
Fan: The Shah Rukh Khan movie might have failed to cross the coveted INR 100 crores mark, but two SRKs did find appreciation from the critics. The film earned INR 85 Crores.
Baaghi: Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff entertained the masses with this action-drama that went on to gross INR 76 Crores at the ticket window. The film's success compelled the makers to announce a sequel.
Neerja: Sonam Kapoor stunned the critics and the audience with a power-packed performance in this film, that won hearts and acclaim. The movie grossed INR 75.34 Crores.
Kapoor and Sons: Another family drama that won praises from audiences and critics alike was this Shakun Batra film which starred Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan in the lead. The movie made INR 73.29 crores at the box office and is undoubtedly one of the most loved films of 2016.
Udta Punjab: Despite being leaked online, Abhishek Chaubey's drug drama starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh in lead, went on to perform well at the box office and earned INR 56.34 Crores. The movie is still running in few theaters and is performing decently.
Ki and Ka: Last but not the least, R. Balki's film that challenged the gender stereotype, minted INR 51.62 crores at the box office. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor won praises for their characters of working wife and a house husband respectively, making a mark in the minds of the audience.
