BO Report: Akshay Kumar's Rustom storms into 100 Crore club, Happy Bhaag Jayegi maintains a steady pace!
Akshay Kumar's Rustom's box office collection is showing no signs of slowing down, despite entering the second week of its release. The Akshay Kumar film has made it to the Rs 100-crore club in 9 days of its release. Interestingly, this is Khiladi Kumar's fastest film to make Rs 100 crore; earlier the record was held by Airlift (10 days).
The courtroom drama that stars Akshay Kumar as a Navy officer earned about INR 7 crore on Sunday. This brings the total earning of the film to INR 106 crore. This is Akshay Kumar's sixth film to make it to the 100 crore mark, afterHousefull 3, Airlift, Holiday, Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore.
The holidays in the first week have also taken their toll slightly on Rustom as well because the growth could have been a little better over the weekend. Still, in ten days it has beaten the lifetime figures of Airlift in places like Gujrat and CP Berar while in Mysore and West Bengal it has gone past the lifetime numbers of Housefull 3. The distributor share of the film is INR 54.50 crore in ten days while the share of Airlift was INR 59.75 crore. That is the figure it has to beat to become the second biggest hit of 2016.
Meanwhile, Diana Penty, Abhay Deol starrer Happy Bhaag Jayegi made a total of INR 10 crore over its opening weekend.Happy Bhaaj Jayegi has had a low weekend at an all India level but Delhi / NCR and East Punjab have managed average collections due to the local flavour and the growth of business on Saturday and Sunday. The costs of the film are reasonable so it is all dependent on the Monday and if it can get around INR 2 crore. If the film goes on from there for a decent 2-3 week run, it may turn out to be a surprise success.
Yet again, a superhit year for box-office's Khiladi...!
