BO Report: Big B's Pink and Emraan's Raaz Reboot manages an average opening at the ticket-window
This Friday, Amitabh Bachchan's courtroom drama Pink and Emraan Hashmi's horror-thriller Raaz Reboot, locked horns at the ticket window.
Vikram Bhatt's Raaz Reboot managed an average opening at some centers outside the metros but the problem is the opening is decent at select mass centers. Single screens in Bhopal were average but they were low in Lucknow. CPCI and Nizam/Andhra may have a mediocre day one. It makes it an uphill struggle for the film as the target audience for horror is mainly B and C centers and single screens of bigger centers. Here, the collections are unlikely to improve as they tend to stick at the level of the initial numbers. The bigger multiplexes will improve but a film like this really needs big support from smaller centers and single screens. The opening of Raaz Reboot is lower than Emraan's last release Azhar. The all India average opening is 20% approx.
On the other hand, Pink opened lower than Raaz Reboot. The release of the film is generally concentrated on the A centers which are the 20-25 biggest cities. The difference is that a dull start here is expected as its a weekend film, while a Raaz Reboot has to get some sort of initial numbers due to its genre. A rise in the evening can even take it past Raaz Reboot on an all India level. The opening of Pink is lower than Wazir and similar to TE3N. The all India average opening for Big B's courtroom drama is 15%.
