Tum Bin 2 and John-Sonakshi's Force 2 get a slow start at the box-office on Day 1
The John Abraham-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Force 2 opened to a slow start at the box-office. The day 1 collections of the film amounted to INR 5 crore which was much better than last week's Rock On 2. Due to the demonetizing issue still lingering especially outside the big metros, the collections have resulted in around 20% less than normal. But even if we take a fair value of INR 6.50 crore, that is still not good for an action film!
The collections were as expected because Force (2011) did not work so it's hardly going to bring in a larger audience the second time around. The opening may not be good for Force 2 but it does put into perspective the epic disaster numbers of Rock On 2 last week and shows how badly the film fared. Force 2 has not performed well anywhere and more importantly those key multiplexes did not show much evening growth. A minimum 40-50% growth is needed by the film over the weekend.
As for Tum Bin 2, it performed rather disappointingly at the ticket window and earned mere INR 75 lakh on Day 1. While Tum Bin was a low budget success in 2001 with a hit music album to its credit, Tum Bin 2 has decent music but visually it had nothing going for it. The only plus is the low cost of the film and unless it springs a huge surprise on Saturday, it will not have much of a theatrical run.
Which film will you choose to watch this weekend: Tum Bin 2 or Force 2?
