Opening Day Box-Office Occupancy Report: SRK-Alia's Dear Zindagi take off to a good start!
Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer Dear Zindagi gives out the mantra - how to live your life to the fullest. The Gauri Shinde directorial released today and has opened well with 40-45% on average, though it is a limited release across 800 theaters approx. The SRK factor has worked for Dear Zindagi to give it a good starting point and it remains to see if the film can go further. The growth has to be there if the movie is to get some sort of run at the box office. Even in the morning shows, there is a big gap between the high-end multiplexes and other multiplexes, as the high-end ones have opened double than the other multiplexes.
Gauri's last film English Vinglish (2012) did business of around INR 39 Crore and found limited appreciation but Dear Zindagi has taken a far bigger start. However, there are only a certain number of people who watch such films and despite the presence of SRK, it will find it hard to go outside its limited audience.
The opening of Dear Zindagi i.e. the morning occupancy can be compared to a film like Fan. Obviously, there is a huge difference in the release size but the occupancy is similar, and places like Mumbai and Bangalore could even be higher in terms of occupancy.
The weekend will unfold how SRK-Alia's film performs at the box-office!
