Box Office Report: Taapsee Pannu's Naam Shabana off to a fair start on Day 1
Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu's Naam Shabana scores decently on day 1 of its release.
Taapsee Pannu's Naam Shabana opened to mixed reviews from both the critics and the audience alike. The movie hit the screens yesterday and witnessed a low occupancy.
According to a trade site, the movie managed to get fair collections on day one of its release. Naam Shabana collected INR 4.75 crore on Day 1. The collections are in this range because of the movie's wide release and due to Akshay Kumar's presence.
The production numbers for the film suggest an opening of INR 5.12 crore on Day 1. Akshay's star power boosted the evening shows of the movie and the weekend looks fairly decent for the film.
The collections of Naam Shabana are in the range of Sonakshi Sinha's Akira that had opened to INR 4.81 crore on day 1.
Given its current trend, then the numbers are pretty decent. If the film enjoys 25% to 30% growth on Saturday and Sunday then it will have a better position in terms of the opening weekend.
Directed by Shivam Nair and produced by Neeraj Pandey, Naam Shabana also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher and Prithviraj in the lead role. The movie is a prequel to the 2015 hit Baby and it revolves around how Shabana Khan (played by Taapsee) came to join the task force.
Recently, Akshay, who has a cameo in the film, took to Twitter to share a selfie with Taapsee, ahead of the movie's release. Not only did the photo make us smile, but also its caption. His post reads, "Today is the day I stand behind this woman...the Real Hero of #NaamShabana. Discover the hero in each one of you, a Shabana! Out Today."
