After witnessing a storm at the box office with the release of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Bollywood has again failed to create magic at the ticket window this weekend. Despite two releases in the form of Meri Pyaari Bindu and Sarkar 3, the business was very poor for the theatres as the movies had a dull opening.

Debutant Akshay Roy's Meri Pyaari Bindu starring Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana collected INR 1.75 crore on its first day. With these collections, it will be a tough ride for the movie to sustain and perform better at the box office in the coming days. Given that the movie's target audience has been youngsters, it was expected to fare well. But it seems to have failed to make a mark.

On the other hand, Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar 3 also opened to poor figures on first day of its release. The movie which stars Amitabh Bachchan in the lead earned INR 2.25 crore nett on day one. The movie's collections are slightly better than Meri Pyaari Bindu because it has released in double the screens. However, the occupancy for the movie is lesser than the Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer.

Interestingly, Sarkar 3 has earned less than half of Sarkar Raj which made INR 4.97 crore on day one and lesser than Sarkar that had collected INR 2.43 crore. Going by the current trend, it looks difficult for both the films to survive at the box office. Also, with the release of two more films - Half Girlfriend and Hindi Medium, the business for this week's releases looks dicey!
