Sachin Tendulkar's docu-drama Sachin: A Billion Dreams has not only opened to rave reviews but has performed very well at the box office too. The movie has created history on day one of its release with strong numbers.
According to the production numbers, the docu-drama has earned INR 8.40 crore on the first day. The trade figures state that the film has made INR 8 crore in all languages, with only Hindi version raking in INR 7 crore. These numbers are excellent and no other movie in this genre has managed to achieve this feat in the history of Hindi cinema,
The film is running to packed houses, courtesy Sachin Tendulkar. He has attracted the audience to the theatres. Given that the movie has also released in Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and English, the audience is sure to connect more with the movie. Also, since there is no major Bollywood release this week, Sachin: A Billion Dreams is sure to witness a huge surge in its weekend collections.
This week's Hollywood release Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge has also performed decently at the box office. The movie has grossed INR 4.25 crore in all languages, beating the collections of its last film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, that had grossed INR 3.25 crore on its first day. The opening for Depp's movie is third highest for a Hollywood film in India after Fast & Furious 8 and xXx - Return On Xander Cage.
