AndhaDhun Box Office Collection Day 2: Ayushmann Khurrana's film shows decent growth through word of mouth

Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte starrer AndhaDhun had a decent Day 2 as it doubled its collection on Saturday. This Sriram Raghavan directorial has been receiving rave reviews from the audience and critics alike.

What is being touted as the 'Best Film of 2018' by many critics and the audience alike, Sriram Raghavan's murder mystery AndhaDhun has been benefitting at the box office thanks to the positive word of mouth. AndhaDhun is of the crime-thriller genre and stars Ayushmann Khurrana as a blind man, framed for murder. Along with Ayushmann, we also have Tabu as the wife of the deceased and Radhika Apte as Ayushmann's love interest. This tangled web full of twists and turns has been getting the audience to flock the theatres on a Saturday.

While Day 1 saw low numbers for Ayushmann's film AndhaDhun, Day 2 was much better and showed decent growth as the collections were more than double of Friday. On Saturday, the movie collected Rs 5 crore and now, the total collections stand at Rs 7.35 crore (Friday - Rs 2.35 crore, Saturday - Rs 5 crore). AndhaDhun is miles ahead of Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain's LoveYatri (which released on the same day) whose total two-day collection stands at Rs 4 crore (Friday - Rs 1.90 crore, Saturday - Rs 2.10 crore).

However, beating both AndhaDhun and Loveyatri is the Hollywood film Venom starring Tom Hardy which has impressively collected Rs 9.25 crore (Friday - Rs 4 crore, Saturday - Rs 5.25 crore).

In an interview with Indian Express, Ayushmann Khurrana shared how it was he who convinced Sriram Raghavan to cast him in AndhaDhun. "Working with him was a part of my bucket list. I always wanted to work with him, so I texted him. This is the first time I texted a director after becoming an established actor. I met him and asked him, ‘why don’t you take an audition of mine?’. Next day, he took my screen test, and we did a couple of scenes. He loved it," Ayushmann told IE.
