Article 15 Weekend Box Office Collection: Ayushmann Khurrana’s film has a decent start & mints THIS amount

A film that has been in the news from the past few weeks is Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15. Based on certain true incidents, the film is an investigative drama that focuses on the rape of 3 Dalit girls for asking for a raise of Rs 3 in their daily wage. Ayushmann is seen playing IPS Ayan Ranjan who is deputed in Laalgaon in UP. Once he gets to know what has happened, Ayan starts to investigate the case despite warnings from his co-worker played by Manoj Pahwa.
The film did manage to make headlines as the brahmin community protested against it for being against their community and portraying it in a bad light. However, after a good start on Friday, Ayushmann Khurrana’s film has kept a decent hold over the first weekend as well. Article 15 made Rs 7.50-7.75 Crore on Sunday while on Saturday the earnings were Rs 7.25 Crores. However, due to the word of mouth, the film got a jump on the weekend and collected a little less than Rs 20 Crore Nett over the first weekend.
The film is helmed by Mulk director Anubhav Sinha and has been getting rave reviews from people. Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana, Article 15 also stars Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Isha Talwar and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub. The film did face some trouble as reports of screenings being stopped in certain parts of the country came over the weekend. However, despite the protests against the film, it is off to a decent start and has kept a good hold.
