Badhaai Ho Box Office Collection Day 1: Ayushmann Khurrana's film takes advantage of the Dussehra holiday
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra's film Badhaai Ho took advantage of the Dussehra holiday as it collected an impressive opening day number at the box office.
After AndhaDhun, Ayushmann Khurrana's latest outing Badhaai Ho is resonating with the audience as well as the critics, who have been all praises for the unconventional family film where Ayushmann's character's mother (played by Neena Gupta) gets pregnant. Also starring Sanya Malhotra and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles and directed by Amit Sharma, Badhaai Ho released on the day of Dussehra, i.e. October 18, 2018. The movie clashed with Vipul Shah's directorial Namaste England starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra in the lead role.
The opening day collection of Badhaai Ho, according to Box Office India, stands at an impressive Rs 7.25-7.50 crore, taking into account the Dussehra holiday. Ayushmann's film has managed to have a higher opening than sleeper hits like Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer Raazi or even Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree. Because of the holiday in Maharashtra and Gujarat, Badhaai Ho picked up well and today is a holiday in Delhi and Punjab; hence, the movie is looking at a good Friday collection as well. It seems as though Badhaai Ho could very well see a very successful weekend, given the positive word of mouth.

Meanwhile, in an EXCLUSIVE interview with Pinkvilla, Ayushmann got candid about how he said yes to Badhaai Ho. "Preeti (Junglee Pictures head) called me up and she told that we have some very interesting concept of your zone and you will love it. Then, I went to Amit Sharma's office and the writer, Akshat, he gave me the narration and I could not point a single dull moment in the narration. I was laughing throughout and it was immediately yes from my side. It is a very different film for me in a way because the entire family is the hero of the film. Every character has been well edged. It is an unconventional family entertainer with a great one-liner of parental pregnancy," Ayushmann revealed.
