Ittefaq and Thor: Ragnarok released last Friday and the opening weekend for both the movies have been good.

When it comes to Ittefaq, the movie collected INR 6 crore on Sunday while the opening weekend collections stand at INR 15.05 crore, according to a leading trade website.

Directed by Abhay Chopra, Ittefaq stars Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna in the lead.

When Pinkvilla spoke to Girish Johar about the no-promotions technique, the film trade expert said, "It's a really great idea to look into the aspect of promoting films without actually going all out and spending just blindly, which I truly feel should be pushed. Because sometimes the budget of the film is less but the P&A costs have gone much higher. This is a good approach by the makers of Ittefaq to promote the film very smartly and I really think that it should work positively and start a trend wherein other makers also follow this."

On the other hand, Thor: Ragnarok has registered a solid weekend with the movie earning INR 10.50 crore on Sunday. The opening weekend collections now stand at INR 27.50 crore.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), and Anthony Hopkins (Odin) in pivotal roles.

About Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi said, "I think sometimes people mistake a tonal shift as ‘We’re just going to make some ridiculous broad comedy where no one gives as— what happens and everyone gets stoned and sits around talking about saving the universe," and added, "We want people to care what happens and care that the hero succeeds. I think tonally it’s like a slight shift. I don’t feel nervous, I feel good about it.
