Gold Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar's film is off to a great start

Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy’s Gold hit the theatres today. Reema Kagti’s directorial Gold has had a good start and has registered a good number as its opening day collection. The film released in 3050 screens today across the country and the box office collection for the first day is approximately Rs 18-20 crores. Trade analysts are predicting, based on the current trend, that the film will cross the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. Many critics have called Gold, Akshay Kumar’s best performance and Mouni Roy has impressed the audience as well with her Bollywood debut. Trade analyst Girish Johar had also told us that Akshay Kumar’s star power will work magic for the film.
Now, the official figures are out and according to Box Office India, Akshay Kumar starrer has raked in Rs 25.25 crore on its opening day. It's the highest opening day for the actor as it has surpassed the day 1 collections of Singh Is Bling (Rs 16.98 crore). It's surely a big news for the Khiladi actor. Gold clashed with Satyameva Jayate today which stars John Abraham in the lead. Gold has done better business in many territories compared to Satyameva Jayate. Gold is doing well in Mumbai, Delhi and East Punjab whereas at other places there is a close competition. Farhan Akhtar, who is the producer of the film tweeted that the film has opened at the 11th position in the all-time advance bookings ever. He congratulated the team of Gold and thanked the exhibitors and distributors for their faith in the film.

Overall, Gold has a lead over Satyameva Jayate in terms of box office collections on Day 1. However, both the films are doing well. Gold’s Day 1 box office collection makes it one of the best of the year, so far.
