Kesari Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar & Parineeti’s film to become the biggest opener of the year

Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer war drama Kesari has finally hit the theatres and fans have been loving the film. Right from applauding Akshay's role of Havildar Ishar Singh to praising the plot of the film, Kesari has been winning hearts. As we all know, Kesari is based on the battle of Saragarhi, and in the film, Akshay is essaying the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, who is the leader of his battalion of Sikh soldiers and motivates them to fight against the massive army of the Afghans. And according to a report in Box Office India, Kesari has taken a huge start at the box office. “Kesari has recorded the highest opening day of the year as it crosses the 20 crore nett mark. The collections can go to 21-22 crore nett also but that will depend on how the mass centers have played out as business on Holi is up and down with low collections in the morning and high in the evening,” as quoted by BOI.
Besides becoming the biggest opener of 2019, Kesari has gone on to become the second best ever opening for an Akshay Kumar film post Gold. After Reema Kagti’s Gold, which released on Independence Day, and collected under 24 crore nett, the opening of Kesari will be the second best ever for Akshay Kumar. Not just this, Kesari has set the cash registers ringing at the box office, taking a massive kick-start at the box office, beating the records of Gully Boy (Rs. 19.40 crore) and Total Dhamaal (Rs 16.50 crore).
As we all know, Kesari released on the festival of colors i.e. Holi and Based on the battle of Saragarhi, Kesari released on Holi and although majority of the multiplexes were shut in the morning, Kesari has taken a good start of around 20 per cent. After celebrating Holi, the audience came out in large numbers to watch the film. Although the official opening day figures of Kesari are still awaited, it is amply clear that Kesari movie is going to become the second highest opener for Akshay Kumar after Gold. Kesari released on March 21, 2019.
