Kesari Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar starrer is off to a decent start on the festival of Holi
With many shopping malls shut in the first half of the day due to Holi, day 1 collection for the film may not be as high as expected.
Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari hit the theatres today and given the festival of Holi, the film is expected to do better in the second half of the day after a decent opening in the morning. With many shopping malls shut in the first half of the day due to Holi, day 1 collection for the film may not be as high as expected. According to a report in Box Office India, single screens in Northern and Central India as well as Bihar generally screen only two shows on Holi. And sometimes just one in the evening.
Kesari, which caters more towards North India, was well-received in places like Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. The opening occupancy in these states was good. The report claims that so far there has been a 20 per cent morning occupancy for Kesari, which may seem low for a big release, but it will go three times higher as the day progresses, given the fact that many malls will open in the second half of the day.
Akshay and Parineeti toured extensively to promote Kesari. They visited cities like Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Delhi. The BOI report states that the film's late start at the box office will make up for the collection and if it does really well then Kesari's Day 1 box office collection will be huge in numbers.
Helmed by Anurag Singh, Kesari is the story of the bravest battle ever fought in the history of mankind between 21 Sikh soldiers and 10,000 Afghans. The film stars Akshay Kumar as the brave and valiant Havildar Ishar Singh who is in charge of the battalion who are sent by Britishers to protect a fort.
