The Lego Movie 2 Box Office Collection: The animated movie opens to a good start

The Lego Movie 2 just got released worldwide and the movie saw a decent opening. As per Deadline.com, the early mid-day numbers show that the movie collected USD 11 million on the day one. The site also predicts that the movie can garner around USD 40 million during the weekend which is lower than the expected BO collection (50-55 million).
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part has opened in 4,303 sites. Talking about the Thursday night collection, the second part of the Lego movie drew just USD 1.5 million. When including the movie's early January 26 preview, then the total pre-opening figure of the movie stands at USD 2.1 million.
"To do $1.5M on a night when there aren’t any K-12 schools off is commendable (0% per ComScore and only 1% colleges off)," the report read. Considering the old LEGO movies, this movie has failed to rake in numbers at the BO.
Speaking of the other movies' BO collections, the animated movie is getting fierce competition at the BO. Paramount Pictures' "What Men Want” collected USD 1.3 million in previews. Meanwhile, Lionsgate’s Liam Neeson thriller Cold Pursuit drew USD 540,000 from Thursday preview. As per Variety.com's report, Thursday preview for The Lego Batman Movie generated USD 2.2 million in February 2017. The original The Lego Movie had made USD 425,000 during its preview.
