The remake of Disney's live action drama The Lion King hit the theatres yesterday in many regional languages and got a good response from the audience. The film has been helmed by Jon Favreau and is produced by Karen Gilchrist, Jeffrey Silver and Jon Favreau; the iconic film revolves around the story of Simba, a young lion who has to succeed his father, Mufasa, as the King of the Pride Lands.
The Lion King had a good opening day as it bagged Rs 10.50-10.75 crore nett on day one of its release. The film managed good growth in the evening to get into the 10 crore nett group and is expected to soar over the weekend. Facing competition from Spider-Man: Far From Home, the morning started on a low pace. However, the results came out good at the end of the day due to better collections in the evening.
The international star cast of the movie includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, James Earl Jones as Simba's father Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor voices Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi and JD McCrary voices the young cub Simba, while the Hindi version has Shah Rukh Khan as Mufasa, Aryan as as Simba, Ashish Vidyarthi as Scar, Shreyas Talpade as Timon, Sanjay Mishra as Pumba and the legendary actor Asrani as Zazu.
