Opening Day Box-Office Comparison: Roohi vs Dhadak, Malang, Panga, Thappad, Bhoot, Fanney Khan, Made In China
Roohi opens better than Panga, Thappad, Made In China and Fanney Khan at the box-office, despite the covid-19 pandemic.
The first major release post the pandemic, Roohi, has sent positive signal to the industry as the day one collections are in the vicinity of Rs 3 crore, thereby surpassing the general expectation of the trade. The Janvhi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma fronted horror comedy was watched by approximately 2.30 lakh people on the first day. In an ideal pre-covid scenario, the day one would have easily been Rs 6 crore plus, however, the fact that audience is stepping out to visit the cinema halls is good news for the industry.
As compared to the pre-pandemic releases, the move has opened better than the likes of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Panga, Thappad, Fanney Khan and Made In China, however, is lower than the last release before the pandemic, Angrezi Medium as also films like Judgmental Hai Kya, Chhapaak, Bhoot, Malang and Janhvi’s acting debut, Dhadak. This is the fourth biggest opening for a film having Rajkummar Rao in key lead after Stree, Judgmental Hai Kya and Kai Po Che. In terms of Mahashivratri releases, Bhoot had raked in Rs 4.80 crore last year on the same day.
