Sanju enters the Rs 300 crore club; Soorma and Ant-Man and the Wasp show steady growth at the box office
Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju has hit the third century as it crosses the Rs 300 crore mark at the domestic box-office. The first Saturday collections for both Soorma and Ant-Man saw a considerable growth from Friday.
Sanju has been the biggest box-office success story of 2018 so far and deservedly so. With a strong cast backed by Ranbir Kapoor as the controversial actor Sanjay Dutt in this Rajkumar Hirani directorial, fans can't get enough of the Kapoor lad's stupendous performance.
When it comes to the box office collections of Sanju for the third Saturday, the biopic collected Rs 6.75 crore nett approx, according to Box Office India. With this, Sanju has proudly become a member of the Rs 300 crore club as the total collections now stand at Rs 300.58 crore approx.
Moving over to Soorma, the first Saturday saw the movie rake in Rs 4.75 crore nett approx, which is a good growth of 45-50%. The total collections of Soorma now stand at Rs 8 crore (Friday - Rs 3.25 crore, Saturday - Rs 4.75 crore).
Soorma is a biopic based on Hockey player Sandeep Singh and stars Diljit Dosanjh, Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi, while it is directed by Shaad Ali.
Given Marvel's insane track record when it comes to the Indian box office (as evidenced by the mammoth collections of Avengers: Infinity War), fans were excited to see Ant-Man and the Wasp.
The superhero movie had an impressive first Saturday as it collected Rs 7 crore and showed a growth of 30-35%. The total collections of Ant-Man and the Wasp now stands at Rs 12.25 crore (Friday Rs 5.25 crore, Saturday - Rs 7 crore).
Ant-Man and the Wasp stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly and is directed by Peyton Reed.
