Shazam Weekend Box Office Collection: DC superhero flick is off to a flying start worldwide
According to a report in Box Office India, the DCEU superhero flick Shazam starring Zachary Levi, witnessed a decent growth at the box office in India.
The DC Extended Universe saw the superhero flick Shazam make its way to the big screen this weekend and the movie is definitely tasting success at the box office. According to a report in Reuters, the film opened to great reviews in North America's 4,217 venues pocketing USD 53 million. Despite a great opening in the US, the film has not struck a massive chord with the audiences back home. The weekend box office collection in India was slow and the movie failed to pick up pace.
According to a report in Box Office India, the superhero flick starring Zachary Levi, witnessed a decent growth at the box office. Shazam opened with a collection of Rs 3 crore on the first day of its release. Wheres on Day 2, the DC film raked in Rs 4.25 crore in box office collections. On Day 3, Sunday, the film earned the same as day 2 taking its total weekend collection to Rs 11.50 crore.
In the US, Shazam did way better than the predicted numbers. The film was anticipated to start around USD 40 million to USD 45 million. But its crossed the USD 50 million mark rather effortlessly. Overseas, “Shazam!” dominated with USD 102 million from 79 international markets.
While “Shazam!’s” domestic opening weekend is on the lower side for a traditional comic-book movie, it was significantly less expensive to make compared to other films in the genre that are heavy on special effects. That means “Shazam!” doesn’t have to reach the same box office heights as other DC Comic entries like “Aquaman” and “Wonder Woman” to turn a profit, reported Reuters.
