Sophie Turner starrer X-Men: Dark Phoenix has officially become the worst-performing superhero film at the international box office. The film has suffered the largest second-weekend drop for a superhero movie ever at the box office, international reports stated. According to a report in Forbes, the Dark Phoenix which released on June 7 managed to mint only USD 2.34 million on its second Friday. The drop is around 83.2 per cent given the fact that its opening Friday collection had amounted to USD 14 million.

The superhero flick has failed to create excitement among fans and set the cash register ringing at the box office. Not just that, Dark Phoenix also was the worst rated film in the X-Men Universe on Rotten Tomatoes and to get the lowest opening at the box office. So far,  Dark Phoenix has managed to earn USD 51.7 million at the international box office. The worldwide collections currently stand at USD 204.2 million.

This Simon Kinberg directorial was thrashed by early reviews and looks like the audience is clearly not raiding the theatre screens to watch the movie. Sophie Turner plays Jean Grey and we also see the return of beloved actors like Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. Dark Phoenix is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies but it failed to strike a chord with movie buffs.
