Spider Man: Far From Home Box Office Collection India: India vs NZ semi final match could impact MCU movie
Spider-Man: Far From Home's Day 5 collections are in. The Tom Holland starrer witnessed a drop on Monday in India. Check out the box office report below.
There is some disappointing news from India for the makers of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The Tom Holland starrer last Thursday amidst great reviews. The Marvel Studios-Sony movie hit the cinemas almost two months after Avengers: Endgame debuted and broke several box office records in April. Far From Home showcased Peter Parker coming to terms with the loss of his mentor, Iron Man aka Tony Stark, while saving the Earth with a new partner, Mysterio. Although the reviews have been good, the numbers from India haven't been all that impressive.
Box Office India reports that the movie has witnessed a 45 percent drop on Monday, as compared to Day 2, Friday's collection. It is to note that Friday's collection had witnessed a drop from the opening day collection. On Monday, Day 4, Spider-Man: Far From Home collected Rs 4.50 crore. These collections bring Spider-Man: Far From Home's total collection in India to a Rs 49.25 crore. It is to see if the ICC World Cup semi-finals match between India and New Zealand would impact the first-week box office collection of the Spider-Man movie.
The last time a big match clashed with a movie was Bharat with India vs Pakistan. The Salman Khan starrer managed to pass through the hurdle and earned a decent number. However, there are chances that the Spider-Man movie wouldn't replicate Bharat's performance as this match decides if India gets through the finals or not. Many would take a seat in front of the TV to find out if India beats New Zealand or not. Thus, it could impact Spider-Man: Far From Home's box office collection.
The site also notes that Spider-Man: Far From Home's collections have been lesser than Captain Marvel, which released in March. "The three day weekend was lower than Captain Marvel released earlier this year and the Monday is also lower though the drop was more for Captain Marvel," the site notes.
