Vishwaroopam 2 Box Office Collection: Kamal Haasan starrer is the third biggest Kollywood opener of this year

Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2 released this Friday and it is a sequel to his 2013 film Vishwaroopam. The film has opened to mixed reviews from the critics. Both the films are directed by Kamal Haasan and he also plays the lead role in both the films. It also has an ensemble cast of Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah return, Waheeda Rahman and Anant Mahadevan. On the first day, the film opened at 45% opening at the box office in its Hindi version.

When Pinkvilla asked trade analyst Girish Johar about Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopamn 2's box office performance, he said that the film is the third biggest opener of this year in Kollywood. Girish told us, "With box office numbers coming in Vishwaroopam 2 is the third biggest Kollywood opener this year so far after Kaala (21.7crs gross) and Thaana Serndha Koottam (10crs gross). With the word of mouth being mixed Viswaroopam 2 will do decent business with its home market leading its business but the Hindi belt will be comparatively low." The film has made a collection of Rs 9 crores.

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cut 14 scenes from the film. Many violent scenes from the film are chopped off by the CBFC. Along with that, a lip-lock scene between Kamal Haasan and Pooja Kumar is also scissored.
