EXCLUSIVE: Major Showdown Between Shobha-Ekta Kapoor Over Balaji's New CEO Aman Gill
All is NOT well in the Balaji Production House and Kapoor family. In a startling revelation, the mother-daughter duo Shobha & Ekta Kapoor had a huge fight over Balaji’s new CEO - Aman Gill just before the release of Udta Punjab. Reportedly, Shobha was hearing many complaints about Aman from different HoDs. As soon as Aman joined, he sacked Balaji's Chief Creative Office, Tanveer Bookwala and his team for no reason. Further, Aman is said to be constantly fighting with Tushar Hiranandani, who is the Head of Development at Balaji.
As per our sources, Tushar has told Shobha that Aman knows nothing about creatives as he has produced only one super flop film with his brother, titled Jo Hum Chahein, but is constantly interfering in the matters. Tushar also warned Shoba that if this continues he will also quit. Our Balaji source added that Tushar has also been telling his friends that Aman was just a talent manager at Kwaan agency. He was hired as Creative Officer at Junglee Pictures just because he was very close to Preeti Shahani of Junglee Pictures.
Balaji's Marketing Head Ruchika Kapoor and Distribution Head Vimal Doshi have also complained to Shobha about Aman's interference and his zero knowledge about films. Apparently, Aman had predicted that Kya Super Kool Hai Hum 3 will be a big hit, however, it tanked at the box-office. Balaji Production' had sold the film at a very high price but, later had to return the money. This incident has pissed off Shobha Kapoor very much.
The sources also informed that Aman had said no to Udta Punjab at Junglee Pictures but when he joined Balaji, he took the credit of Producer on Udta Punjab without doing any work. Phantom Films team (Udta Punjab.'s co-producer) is also unhappy about Aman's behaviour. Even Sony MSM team has also complained about Aman to Shobha about their experience of working with him during Azhar. Allegedly, a prominent figure in the Balaji office also complained that all the internal discussion news used to travel to Phantom. This was because Aman is close to Madhu Mantena of Phantom Films.
Our sources further add that recently Shobha called up Aman and gave him a big, abusive lecture to improve his ways or he will be sacked soon. Shobha is also superstitious that since Aman has joined Balaji, nothing is working in their favour. Their superhit franchise Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 flopped, even Azhar tanked on the ticket window and then the CBFC-legal trouble with Udta Punjab.
However, Ekta wants to give some more time to Aman and this led to a big fight between the mother-daughter. Shobha thinks a big mistake has been committed by her daughter by hiring Aman and wants to get rid of him as soon as possible. Senior Kapoor now wants to do a big havan to get rid of all the bad omen that has come her company's way. Also, she is planning to go Tirupati temple soon.
