I Got Greedy About Being a Steven Spielberg's Heroine - Parineeti Chopra
Hollywood films roping in Bollywood actors to dub for the Hindi version of their films has become a trend. Varun Dhawan dubbed for Captain America, Arjun Kapoor for Ice Age 5 and now Parineeti Chopra has given the voice in Hindi version of BFG.
Ask Parineeti, what made her do the VO and she says, "I got greedy about being a Steven Spielberg's heroine. I thought this was going to be the one and only chance. When they offered to me, I got excited because it was a Spielberg movie and Roald Dahl. Both names you know of and you know it will be a quality project. And then there were only two main characters. It is the story of the giant and the girl. The girl is me and the giant is Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. Who will say no to this? Seeing my name on that poster is the most exciting thing."
Those who have watched the trailer, wouldn't believe that the girl's voice is given by Parineeti. Quiz her if it was difficult to modulate her voice and she explains, "
Hai na? That's great. That was the intention. I have such a distinctive and heavy voice. Even if I dub for someone else, you will be able to know it. I wanted it to be unrecognizable. I wanted it to be like 'Who is this girl sounding like?'. And I have been hearing that a lot lately. Even when they watch the movie, they will feel the same. That was the challenge and the exciting part."
Did she get to dub with Amitabh Bachchan, who is the voice for the Giant, and the gorgeous actress says, "No, that wasn't possible. We dubbed separately. We are going to speak soon. We will meet soon too. Since our dates were different we haven't got to talk to each other."
Given that she has now given the VO, we probe her if she is open to doing a Hollwood movie and Chopra is more than eager for the same. "Yeah, I was always open for it before as well. The want and desire is there because it is a huge platform. But to act in an english film, the offer has to be great," admits Parineeti.
She adds, "It is great yaar that Hollywood is open to using actors from India for dubbing with people whose voices are recognizable. For us also it is something new. Hollywood and Bollywood is bridging gap between themselves. They come to shoot here, our actors are going there to shoot. We release the films there (which we have always done). It is great that slowly and steadily we are working together."
