She should have been apprehensive about me being an actor - Neil Nitin Mukesh on fiance Rukmini Sahay
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh got engaged to Rukmini Sahay in a hush hush ceremony yesterday and surprised all. Pictures of his engagement went viral last night with both the love birds sharing some candid poses together.
When we got in touch with Neil for the same, he said, "It was a pleasant surprise for me too. It happened so soon that it was pleasant and surprising. We had a courtship for like a month and we met through family. The families were very close and within a month we decided to get engaged because Dussehra is a good day. So my father and my family thought that it was the perfect time to make things official. Just one day before, we decided, and we had a small get-together with only our close family members attending it."
Quiz him if he always wanted to settle in an arranged set up and the actor admitted, "To be honest, I always thought that I would get married somewhat like my grandfather did, may be runaway and get married. That's what my grandfather did with my grandmother. Though I do believe in the institution of love completely. I guess sometimes the opposite happens and love still exists. The only thing that is different here is that I didn't fall in love before I got married. I mean they (my family and friends) made my life a little easier. I am in love with her, she loves me and love does completely exist. We know each other for a while and we have been meeting up everyday. She balances things really well and and understands me. The girl has fit in all this so soon, and plus the way she is with her family that's exactly the way I am with my family, it is all perfect."
Rukmini belongs to the aviation industry and has no connections with Bollywood. Probe Neil if he preferred a partner not from Bollywood, to which he says, "I never really thought about this, whether she should be from the industry or not, because I would sound very hypocritical if I say that since I am a part of the same industry. In fact, if at all, she should have been apprehensive about me being an actor. I think the girls in our industry are lovely, extremely hardworking, gorgeous and are all self made women and I respect that. But I never dissected it in such a way. When love has to happen, it will happen and you can't really say where, who, cast, creed, profession etc."
He adds, "The wedding date hasn't been finalized yet. The family hasn't got time to sit and decide things as yet. But hopefully early next year. If you ask me, I am a very simple, low profile kind of a guy, and would like the wedding to be in that sense also. But there is no doubt about the fact that I would want all my well wishers, family, friends, industry people to all be there. So we will definitely plan something."
