EXCLUSIVE! Phillauri's Suraj Sharma: I would have liked to be a part of Udta Punjab
Suraj Sharma reveals that he would have liked to be a part of his Phillauri co-star Diljit Dosanjh's Udta Punjab.
Suraj Sharma is all set to impress us with his comedy chops in the soon to be released movie Phillauri which also stars Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh and Mehreen Pirzada as the leads. Marking his Bollywood debut with this movie, Suraj plays Kanan who is a Manglik and in order to marry Anu (Mehreen), has to marry a tree. After the ceremony, he starts getting haunted by Shashi (Anushka), the friendly spirit. What follows is a hilarious journey with drama attached to it.
Suraj rose to fame when he starred in Life of Pi which is now an Oscar-winning movie. He was nominated for a BAFTA in the Rising Star category. He was also a part of the famous American TV show Homeland, in which he played the role of Aayan Ibrahim, the nephew of a terrorist.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, when we asked him which Bollywood movie he would have liked to be a part of, his answer was immediate. He replied, "I would have liked to be a part of Udta Punjab."
Udta Punjab released last year and marked the debut of Diljit, who is Suraj's co-star.
On what was it like working with Diljit, Suraj said, "Unfortunately, we only had one scene together. And it's not even a scene, it's a moment. I feel that moment to be cathartic aur ussi mein jo mujhe sukoon milna tha, woh mil gaya. It was amazing. Diljit is very cool because he's a superstar and a rockstar. But, he is so humble, he's so chill. There's no 'extra' and you feel comfortable around him. I felt like I got very lucky. The whole cast, crew and key people as in the heads were all very much in sync with each other and really good."
