The response for the trailer and songs of the movie Phillauri has been loved by all. How does it feel to be welcomed so openly by Bollywood fans?

Phillauri's trailer has got a lot of love and even when the trailer of Udta Punjab was out, even that got a lot of love. I hope the picture gets the same amount of love as the trailer has. Picture abhi baaki hai!

What was the reaction of your Punjabi fans who watched the trailer and songs of the movie?

Amazing. It was a 100 percent positive response from all the people who watched the trailer. They liked it a lot and they loved my look in the movie. The response has been good.

What did you like about the script and your character in Phillauri?

More than just my character, I loved the script of the movie. And if the script is good, then all the characters are good too. If you only think your role is good and the script isn't then even your role does not have enough weight. I liked the script and even the character as well. That's when I decided I should do the movie.

Can you give us some details about your character?

My character in the movie is a Punjabi singer from the olden era but I am not an extremely nice person in the movie. Everyone is getting the Sahiba feels from my character but I am not only that Sahiba, he's a bit of a spoilt singer.

What will fans find different in your character in accordance to your other movies?

My look is very different and there is a negative shade which has not been seen before. I have not shot much in an old world scenario and I have done such rom-coms but I've never delved into a complete proper romance movie. So all these things will be different.

What was it like working with Anushka Sharma?

It was a really good experience to work with Anushka Sharma. She is a very professional artist. She has a lot of interest in her work. She's always prepared beforehand. When you get to work with such an artist, then even you try to give your 100 percent. So, it was really nice to work with her.

What differences did you find in Anushka as an actor and as a producer?

I never got the feeling that she was the producer of the movie. As an actress, I have always liked her from the start. She is the same for me. She's a senior artist, she's already a big star so I never got a producer type feeling from Anushka.

What is the difference between working with Anushka and Kareena Kapoor Khan who you worked with in Udta Punjab?

It's the same. Jo bade artist hai woh bade hai aur badon ki to badi baat hai. (Laughs)

What is more of your passion? Singing or Acting?

Both.

Were there any pranks on the sets of Phillauri?

There weren't many pranks. Firstly, the weather was too hot and even the days of shooting were less and we had to shoot too. The working hours were a bit long - we had to shoot and capture everything. We were shooting old world and hence the detailing has to be looked upon carefully. So there was no time for pranks. Everything was serious. Even though the movie is about a friendly bhoot, my shoot took place in the olden era where there wasn't a ghost. There, everyone was alive so I worked amongst mortals in the movie. I don't know what happened after that.

Your female fan following is huge. How do you welcome that?

Really? (Laughs) When it comes to fans, we should not focus on their gender. I feel that way. Fans are fans!  But, still, I would like to thank them for their support.

If you get an offer for a Hollywood stint like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, would you consider the option?

I don't know if I will get an offer but I will definitely do it if I was offered. 100 percent.

Have you signed any new Bollywood movies? There were rumours of you signing a few big upcoming movies?

I'm listening to a few scripts right now and we'll see when it goes on floors. And about the rumours, they are rumours so what do we even talk about it?

Q. Can you talk about your obsession with sneakers especially those of Yeezys?

I feel like if I don't have a shirt, then I can go in a t-shirt! If I don't have shoes, that will not be good. Yeezys is owned by the artist Kanye West. It's not like it's some corporate company and a CEO that I don't know of. I feel more collected in Yeezys because I know Kanye West from the beginning. I know him before his shoes. I liked his songs, his attitude and that attitude is personified in his clothes and sneakers. You get a unique feel from Yeezys. So I feel I'm more connected with it because of the artist. If it were by some other company, I wouldn't like it as much.
