EXCLUSIVE: Sonam Kapoor on her Padman director: I was itching to work with R. Balki
Sonam Kapoor during an interview with us shared her experience of working with Padman director R. Balki.
Sonam Kapoor, who recently bagged her Special Mention award at the 64th National Film Awards for her powerful performance in Neerja, is currently shooting for R.Balki's Padman. The movie also stars Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte in the lead role and Sonam is rumoured to be playing the role of a tabla player.
The movie is produced by Twinkle Khanna's production house Mrs. Funnybones Movies and is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social entrepreneur who helped in providing low-cost sanitary napkins to women in villages.
When we quizzed Sonam about her experience of working on the movie, she proudly said, "I have been a fan of R. Balki since the beginning and I was itching to work with him not realizing, when I do work with him, I will just fall in love with the kind of human being he is and the kind of work he wants to do. He is truly an artist and thinks differently. He wants to say something which each of his films. We have a great rapport. I keep teasing him that he will miss me so much after the shoot is wrapped up but honestly, it is me who will miss him."
She continues in same vein, "He is so positive, pyaar se sab karwate hai.. That is very rare these days. And the kind of directors I have got to work with in the past 10 years in the industry, people don't get those chances. Whether it is Aanand L Rai, Ram Madhvani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, R. Balki, Shashanka Ghosh, Sooraj Barjatya and now Rajkumar Hirani. I am so privileged to have worked with them and to get the kind of love and respect that they have given me."
