Here’s all you need to know about Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar's 2.0
The first promotions will kick off in Los Angeles at 7 am US time
The promotional strategies for 2.0 (a sequel to Enthiran) has got to be one of the most exciting and unique one’s ever. The hot air balloon promotion which begins today in USA, has got to be definitely a first for an Indian film! 2.0 is said to be one of the most expensive non- English movies and the producers Lyca Productions and director Shankar have spared no efforts to mount the film on as monumental a level as a Hollywood film and make it of international class and standards.
Today morning (June 27), the producers, Shankar along with the film’s stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, will kick-start the promotions of the science-fiction film at 7 am (US time) in Los Angeles with their 100-foot-tall hot air balloon flying across the The Hollywood Sign (formerly the Hollywoodland Sign) on Hollywood Hills at Lake Hollywood Park, and then the next day at Lancaster in California at 6 am. The hot air balloon will travel above Hollywood in LA after that. The Hollywood Sign is a landmark situated on Mount Lee in the Hollywood Hills area of the Santa Monica Mountains, overlooking Hollywood in LA. The balloon is printed with the life-size graffiti of Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth's pictures. After LA, the balloon, will stop at San Francisco, London, Dubai and Australia for the promotional tour.
Akshay plays the villain – an evil, ambitious, scientist Dr Richard whose scientific experiments go devastatingly wrong and he looks like a disfigured half-crow half-man. While Rajinikanth reprises his role as scientist Vaseegaran (Vasi) from Enthiran, his android robot Chitti won’t be seen this time. Instead of Chitti, Vasi will be forced to make a new hybrid robot because of unusual circumstances.
While Chitti won’t be seen in 2.0, dwarf clones of the robot will be there in the film to keep Chitti-lovers happy.
Akshay will be seen with his army of robotic animals fighting an army of friendly robots. For the first time Crobots (a programming game designed by Tom Poindexter), have been introduced in an Indian film. The robots are controlled by a program to move around a war field, scan the environment and fire at their enemies using cannons. Their mission is to seek out and destroy other robots, each running different programs. Both Vasi and Dr Richard will be seen engaging the help of Crobots to fight each other.
We know that Akshay Kumar will have three looks in 2.0. Those who have seen his performance in the film have been raving about it and his looks. In a unique way the star will even be seen communicating with animals. Akshay Kumar has used a pheromone-perfume in 2.0 to attract crows for attacking the human race. Pheromones are chemical substances produced and released into the environment by animals and insects, affecting the behaviour of their own species.
A new 3D sound technology designed by Oscar-award-winning sound designer, sound editor and mixer Resool Pookutty will be introduced in 2.0. Since the film is in 3D and is shot directly in 3D, hence the introduction of a new 3D new sound in 2.0.
During the promo campaign the makers had announced that the film will be in 3D. 2.0 will be the first real 3D Imax movie from India. Interestingly a few movies like Jungle Book and Avatar have been actually shot with 3D camera system as usually a 2D format is converted to 3D in most movies. But in 2.0 many portions have actually been shot using 3ality Technica rigs system, which specializes in high-definition, live-action stereoscopic digital 3D.
