Birthday Special: Rohit Shetty, the director, who brings in the audience on his brand of cinema
Rohit Shetty is all set to score at the box-office in 2021 with his cop drama, Sooryavanshi and the comedy of errors, Cirkus.
A film has conventionally been an actor’s medium in Bollywood, with them being the sole selling point of the film to bring the audience in cinema halls for the opening weekend, and it’s only from Monday that the director’s content does the talking. But in this crowd of cinema driven by actors, there are very few, who have managed to create an identity or rather, a brand for themselves, with audience coming in to watch their zone of cinema. One of them is Rohit Shetty, and the term “A Film By Rohit Shetty and Team” has always made the audience excited.
“Rohit Shetty Ka Picture Hai, Timepass Ho Jayega” is a term that one hears commonly in Mumbai whereas “Rohit Shetty Na Picture Ma Toh Majja Avse” is something spoken about in Gujarat. And these two are the biggest markets for the filmmaker, as almost all his directorial have overperformed in Maharashtra and Gujarat. The brand Rohit Shetty has a loyal fan base and a chunk of audience in these two belts particularly step out to watch his definition of entertainment – with scale, cars, guns, roses and of course, lots of humour.
In his career spanning over 15 years, Shetty has directed 13 films, of which, 4 are blockbusters, 2 are super hits, 3 are hits, 2 average, whereas the remaining two failed to do wonders at the box-office. Of the failures, his directorial debut, Zameen, is considered to be his best work and commands a solid recall value in today’s time. In-fact, had he made a Zameen like film in his current form, it’s a definite blockbuster. Rohit is considered the master of commercial cinema today, who has cracked the formula of making people laugh and taking them on a ride in his larger-than-life cinema. While Shetty hasn’t really made an unwatchable film till date, two of his weaker films include Dilwale and Sunday.

Next up for Rohit is Sooryavanshi, as he gears up to take his cop universe forward. He is also on the verge of completing Cirkus, a comedy of error, which is poised for an opening in the month of December 2021. The expectations from both the films are high, particular because one is an extension of his world featuring Singham and Simmba, whereas the other one marks the return of Shetty to his home turf of comedies, having delivered memorable films in the genre like Golmaal, Golmaal 3, Golmaal Again, All The Best, Chennai Express and Bol Bachchan. The least that one expects from the two films is a good commercial content that sets the box-office on fire, and given his track record till date, he is set to deliver yet again.
Here’s wishing Rohit all the luck, joy and success at the box-office. Happy Birthday Rohit Shetty.
