EXCLUSIVE: 10 Years of Ranbir Kapoor: Imtiaz Ali says, Ranbir is a 'bada janwar', meant for big things
Imtiaz Ali is all praises for Ranbir Kapoor as the actor completes a decade in the film industry.
This day, 10 years back, Ranbir Kapoor made an impressive debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya. The actor has since then proved his mettle in all his movies- be it Wake Up Sid, Tamasha, Barfi or Rockstar.
Ranbir is amongst the few from the Gen X actors who have risked taking up different roles and nailed it to the T. Be it playing a mute Barfi or bringing in a variation to his character Jordan in Rockstar, Ranbir can easily be touted as one of the best actors we have on board.
Ace filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who has worked with Ranbir in two of his most critically acclaimed movies- Rockstar and Tamasha, was all praises for the actor.
When we got in touch with the filmmaker to understand what he thinks of Ranbir completing a decade in the industry, Imtiaz unabashedly says, "Ranbir Kapoor is a 'bada janwar'."
When asked to elaborate on it, he says, "Ranbir's success or failure cannot be measured by the rat race because he is not a rat, he is a 'bada janwar'. He is meant for big things. The best thing about him is that he is never in a hurry and he always wants to do what is meaningful, what is new and challenging for him. That is an attitude that makes him the best actor in the film industry."
During a podcast recently Imtiaz while talking about Ranbir said, "Ranbir I think is the biggest disaster. I think he is a victim of flirtation rather than the guys who propagate it, the propagator, flirts."
He further explained, "Ranbir Kapoor? The same chap? Is he a flirt? Not at all! I mean he tries. He tries but he just gets very nervous about it. There was a time when he kind of liked a girl in Delhi. We were shooting so I said, well, I'm going to introduce her to you because I know her and so, have a chat. So he said ya ya do that do that. Then I went to talk to her about something else and he was so nervous, he kept clawing at me and trying to pull me back because he thought that I’m going to say something which will spill his beans."
