Aamir Khan is gearing up to begin work on his next film - Lal Singh Chaddha which is an official Hindi adaptation of the hit Hollywood film Forrest Gump. The English film traces the journey of this dimwitted man as he witnesses some of the most iconic episodes in the US history. Similarly, Aamir's character will also be present during some of the most crucial moments in the history of the nation.

Our source tells us, "Aamir is known to delve deep into his character. He had been wanting to make Forrest Gump for quite a few years but getting the rights took some time. But now, he's completely devoted himself to the project. He is currently getting into proper shape to play the younger Lal Singh Chaddha. He will lose at least 12-14 kilos now because he needs to look leaner than what he did in Thugs Of Hindostan."

On one hand, there's Salman Khan's Bharat which began with the India-Pakistan Partition and ended in 2010. But Lal Singh Chaddha will showcase other momentous events instead. The informer reveals, "The movie opens in the '70s with the India-Pakistan War of 1971. Advait Chandan, the director, along with Aamir, is sitting and researching material from the time zone. They are planning it on the lines of a socio-political drama. Along with that, they will also capture the whole period when Emergency was declared in India. They also plan to show the assassination of Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi among other events. Aamir's character will age through the years and will travel to present times. Apart from the 1971 War, a brief part of the film's second half will be about the Kargil War."
