EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Kumar discusses an “out and out comedy” with Ekta Kapoor and Raaj Shaandiliyaa
The multi-tasking man of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has met over 15 producers on the sets of Bachchan Pandey. Looking to reunite with Ekta Kapoor on Dream Girl director's next film.
On Wednesday, producer Ekta Kapoor along with Dream Girl director, Raaj Shaandilyaa took to social media to reveal that they were in Jaisalmer, however didn’t divulge into any other details. On reaching out to our sources, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that the duo had gone to Rajasthan to meet Akshay Kumar on the sets of Bachchan Pandey. It’s a known thing by now that Akshay is reuniting with Ekta on a film and the discussions have been on much before the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Ekta and Raaj took off to Jaisalmer via a private charter jet, and stayed at the same hotel as Akshay and team Bachchan Pandey. They went there to discuss an out and out comedy with the actor, and he is said to have loved the idea and has asked the team to come up with a bound screenplay. Having wrapped up three films in the last 4 months, he is now looking to form a line up for the next two years, and is constantly discussing films with probable collaborators,” revealed a source close to the development, adding further that it’s an original idea and not a remake. In-fact, the film that they discussed in this meet is completely different from the action comedy that they were contemplating on over the last few meetings.
According to our source, 15 to 16 producers flew down to Jaisalmer over the last two months to meet and discuss a probable collaboration with Akshay and the actor is currently in the process of streamlining the scripts offered to him and decide on his game plan. Among the others, the two producers who met Akshay in Jaisalmer include Ashwin Varde (to discuss Oh My God 2), Jackky Bhagnani (For Bell Bottom and Mission Lion). The actor was supposed to do a Mudassar Aziz directorial for Jackky, however, he has passed it on to Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. And instead of the Mudassar Aziz directorial, he is collaborating with Jackky on Mission Lion with Jagan Shakti, which is currently in the pre-production stage.
Interestingly, Raaj has been trying to work with Akshay for a while now. Whenever this collaboration happen, it would mark the reunion of Akshay and Ekta after Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Doobara. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla to know more on the future of this yet untitled comedy film, as also many other Akshay Kumar releases.
