Alia Bhatt REVEALS how Brahmastra was magical for Ranbir Kapoor and her

Undeniably, Alia Bhatt has catapulted herself into a league of her own today. With a string of successes and critical acclaim, the Gen-Y actress has turned out to be the numero uno star. Her last film Kalank might have failed to live upto expectations but Alia has accepted it and moved on. Her next project that's being readied for a summer 2020 release would be Brahmastra where she will be romancing her real-life beau Ranbir Kapoor. The supernatural series is being planned as a three-part franchise with the first currently being shot.

Given that the film is being made into a full fledged series, the actors have to dedicate almost ten years of their life to this. Previously, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati also invested five years completely to Baahubali and didn't take any projects in between. Ask her about that and Alia asserts, "I can definitely do other films in between, but the fact that I'm getting to collaborate on such a big vision makes me happy and excited. I know, for a fact, that it will probably make a huge global impact if it's received and appreciated. It's a vision of some other kind, but at the same time, it's rooted in the Indian sentiment. BRahmastra is the most powerful weapon that was used in every battle - the Ramayana and Mahabharata. In our film, there's a reference to the Indian mythology which is why we launched our first logo in the sky. There's a reason for it. The film is set in contemporary, modern times but the world is deeply a part of our mythology. You feel the magnitude and the amazingness of what's possible to get out of our own Indian roots and the universe. There's Amit ji's dialogue which says 'jisme poore brahmand ki shakti bhari hui hai'."

With the movie having a stellar ensemble with names like RK, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna and others, where does Alia fit in? She tells us, "The simpler way to put it will be the guiding force behind Brahmastra is love. Love is an important part of the whole series and it makes this big world more beautiful." Talking about working with her co-actors, the Raazi heroine says, "I have always loved Ranbir as an actor - he's just so fabulous on screen, he's powerful yet so honest and complete. I'm feeling that even while we work together. It's so nice to just see him be. He really inspires me to be a better version of myself at work. His work ethics are commendable and I'm still learning from him. I'll continue learning from him. Even with Bachchan sir, who's so giving and professional as an actor, it's been amazing. His voice can alone give you goosebumps. The world is relatable. Brahmastra is not going to be a film, it will be an experience."

Incidentally, this is also her first film with RK and the two fell in love in real life, over the course of this passion project. Talk about Ranbir and she blushes a bit. "I'm actually very glad that the first time he and I are coming together is for a film like this. There was a time when I used to think - 'When will I get to work with him? What will happen? And then this happened. Also, it has been a while since Brahmastra was conceptualised - it was five years ago right after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. That was also the time Ayan and I bonded. It was a very big moment for me when he offered me this part. I wasn't who I'm today then but he still entrusted in me. It was a big deal for me and from that day to now, I have always looked forward to being on that set everyday. Because it's a new challenge each day and it has given me abandon as an actor. I have always felt that when Ranbir and I come together, it has to be magical and literally, it can't get more magical than this. I'm saying all this with great hope and not being pompous about it. We're working very hard towards that."

Over the years, there have been several talks about Alia and her relationships but she has never really spoken about it. Till Ranbir happened. What changed? Alia smiles, "Ranbir makes me feel different. Yes, it's true that I was always a little wary of baring my private life out there, but with him, there's a deep sense of comfort. He's an amazing soul and there's so much that I get to learn from him everyday, not just as an artiste but also as a human being. I would just say that I'm in a happy space both professionally and personally."

On the work front, the actress will soon begin work on SS Rajamouli's period saga RRR, followed by Karan Johar's magnum opus Takht and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Inshallah lined up right after. All in all, it's going to be a fulfilling 2020 for Alia with four back-to-back releases.
