EXCLUSIVE: Apne 2 makers in talks with boxing trainers of Sylvester Stallone starrer Creed & Will Smith’s Ali
The makers plan to rope in a trainer from either of the two films to help Karan Deol with his boxing lessons for Apne 2, which also features Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol
In November 2020, Dharmendra announced a sequel to his 2007 sports-drama Apne, which had also featured his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. While the three Deols will feature in the second instalment of the film, this time they will also be joined by Sunny’s son Karan. The young actor had made his Bollywood debut in 2019 with his father’s directorial, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas. Karan will play a boxer in the film and will start his prep soon. A source close to the project informs Pinkvilla that international trainers will be roped in to help Karan with his boxing lessons.
“Apne 2 makers are in talks with boxing trainers that worked on Creed and Ali to train Karan Deol for Apne 2. Anthony Martins had worked on Creed, while Darrell Foster had worked on Ali and either of the two might come onboard to help Karan with the training. It is important that Karan trains in the sport well before he starts shooting for the film which is expected to roll after April,” informs a source close to the development. Directed by Ryan Coogler, Creed was released in 2015 and featured Michael B Jordan and Sylvester Stallone. Ali was a 2001 biographical-drama that was headlined by Will Smith.
While announcing the film Sunny had mentioned on social media, “Babaji ke aashirwaad aur aapke pyaar ki wajah se aaj hum vapas ek sath nazar aayenge. Feeling blessed to get a chance to work with my father, brother again this time with my son. #Apne2, in cinemas Diwali 2021.” Check out the post below.
Reportedly, Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby will reprise their original roles from Apne for the Anil Sharma directed sequel, while the movie will be shot in Punjab and London.
