Read the full excerpt of the interview below:

You are one of the most bankable singers and every movie has to have at least one Arijit Singh song. Is there any added pressure on you?

I don’t take any pressure from anyone. I simply put in my best to any project. Don’t get perturbed by pressure from anyone.

Whatever mood we are in, there is always an Arijit Singh song to lift our mood up. But, who does Arijit listen to the most?

Ustad Amir Khan Sahab, Ustad Rashid Khan Sahab, Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Sahab. In the popular music scenario, I love Kishore Kumar, Hemant Mukherjee, Lata Mangeshkar. In more recent times I’ve loved Jagjit Singh, Sonu Nigam - they are my idols. KK, Atif and Papon are my current favourites. From the West - Robin Williams, John Legend and John Mayer.

What is your view on actors who take up singing for their own movies?

What are your views on actors who take up singing for their own movies? Every person can explore their creativity. There are no boundaries and no limits. I don’t want to judge anybody.

Would you be willing to be more active on social media for your fans?

I did this India Tour to get more close to my fans. I enjoy a silent and quiet life away from fame. It’s the way I have always been and thereby I try to refrain myself from using social media. It is also because I don’t like being called a celebrity but lately, the growth of social media has been such that it has become difficult.

What do you have to say about the recent trend of remaking old Hindi songs?

What do you have to say about the recent trend of remaking old Hindi songs? Again, there are no rules or limits to creativity. As long as people appreciate music – in whatever genre they consume – its good for the musicians and good for the music scene.

Do you think musicians in Bollywood get their due credit?

I think there is only one topic that interests me and many musicians in our country. It is - Royalty. I think this is one drawback we face as singers in India. If we get a royalty for the songs we sing, we can consider our future secured.

How excited are you to bring your tour to Mumbai?

I am super excited and confident about the upcoming show in Mumbai of the India Tour. I’ve worked with Wizcraft in the past and I’m very delighted with the opportunity they gave me. It is one the best experiences that I have had in a long time. The songs which I will play are going to be a surprise for my audience. But I can say that I will be singing most of my chart-buster songs. It is going to be a good 3-hour long musical evening in Mumbai.

What can fans expect from an Arijit Singh concert?

My fans have understood that they have to create their own moments in their space while listening to my songs in their own personal individual cocoon. I just want them to be my guests and enjoy their time.
