EXCLUSIVE: Deepika Padukone allots 75 days for her next with Prabhas, an apocalyptic film set in future
After wrapping up Pathan, Deepika Padukone moves on to her next with Prabhas directed by Nag Ashwin. She may also be seen on the big screen this year with Shakun's next.
Pinkvilla recently gave exclusive insight about Deepika Padukone’s character sketch from the upcoming Siddharth Anand directed Pathan, which pairs her alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The actress plays a suave agent with a short hair appearance in the espionage action thriller. And now, we have learnt that right after wrapping up Pathan around the month of June, the actress jumps onto her next film, the yet untitled Nag Ashwin directorial, co-starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. The Pan-Indian tale is said to be the biggest film of Indian cinema.
“The film goes on the floors in the month of July. By then, Prabhas would have wrapped up shooting for major chunk of Salaar and Adipurush, whereas Deepika would have completed Pathan. She has allotted 75 days already for the film, which has her in an action-packed avatar, with an altogether different get up. It’s an apocalyptic film, set in the futuristic timeline, with the characters fighting for survival. The tale has not been attempted in Indian cinema till date,” revealed a source close to the development.
While the makers have confirmed a 2022 opening, our source shares that there lies a high possibility of the film arriving in 2023, since the VFX will be done by multiple international teams, which includes the one who worked on Avengers: End Game. A clearer picture on release date will be known once the film goes on floors. Apart from Pathan and Nag Ashwin’s next, DP will be starting another film this year (more on this soon).
Meanwhile, as far as her return to the big screen is concerned, if everything goes as planned, she is all set to have a release in the third quarter of this year. The Shakun Batra directorial co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey is currently in the post-production stage and is looking to release in the window of August to November this year, but it eventually depends on the Covid scenario and the relatively clear run in the release calendar.
